Sorry about this unfortunate update, but due to inclement weather and the state
of emergency declared in NewCastle county, we are moving the DAS 5th Annual
Holiday Minicon which was scheduled for Sunday, December 20,  to sometime in
January 2010. The minicon will be in January around when the Wilmington Chapter
meeting will be. The Dover and Wilmington chapters will have a combined meeting
at the Brandywine Hundred Library which will also be the Minicon. So hold onto
your Secret Santa presents and see you in Jan 2010!

The beautiful snow put the kibosh on our original Holiday Mini-con so we're
having it on Sunday, January 17, 1:30pm to 4:30pm at the Brandywine Hundred
Library on Foulk Rd. in Wilmington, DE.

Event fee: (Potluck) $5 admission with a main dish that can FEED AT LEAST 10
PEOPLE. Some examples are: precooked hot dogs or hamburgers with buns, chicken,
chili, sloppy joes,meatballs, tuna casserole, etc.

$10 if you bring nothing but your sparkling personality and witty repartee.

The staff of Zenkaikon is pleased to announce their participation in two
upcoming local events. On April 11, 2010, Zenkaikon will be running a booth at
the annual Sakura Sunday event of the Subaru Cherry Blossom Festival of Greater
Philadelphia. They will also host the 2010 Sakura Sunday Cosplay Contest. On
April 14, 2010, the Zenkaikon staff will also be hosting a booth at Saké Fest,
an event benefitting the Japanese American Society of Greater Philadelphia.

Zenkaikon Booth at Sakura Sunday

Sakura Sunday, sponsored by the Japanese American Society of Greater
Philadelphia, celebrates the blooming of the sakura trees in Philadelphia's
Fairmount Park. For a five dollar admission fee, attendees can enjoy musical
performances, martial arts demos, crafts, vendors, food, and more. Visitors to
the Zenkaikon booth will be able to play Japanese video games, watch anime,
participate in a cosplay contest, and purchase Zenkaikon-themed merchandise.
Sakura Sunday takes place on April 11, 2010 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. More

Sakura Sunday Cosplay Contest

Zenkaikon and the Delaware Anime Society welcome attendees to dress as their
favorite characters to participate in the 2010 Sakura Sunday Cosplay Contest.
The contest will be open to cosplayers of all ages and skill levels. Sign ups
and judging will take place at the Zenkaikon booth from 11:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
Judging will be limited to cosplay with designs that originate from anime,
manga, and video games. Reference material consisting of character images is
highly recommended and lack thereof will greatly affect a participant's score.
Judging will be based on craftsmanship and the ability to recreate the
character's likeness. Awards will be announced and given out at 3 p.m. at the
Zenkaikon booth. Those with any questions may e-mail cosplay@....

About Saké Fest

Saké Fest offers the opportunity to experience dozens of saké varieties from
both U.S. and Japanese brands and learn how to pair saké with any food. The
event takes place at the Loews Philadelphia Hotel on April 14, 2010 from 6 p.m.
to 8:30 p.m. The Zenkaikon staff hopes to meet many of its older attendees at
this event celebrating Japan's traditional liquor. More information is available

VALLEY FORGE, PENNSYLVANIA -- April 10, 2010: The staff of Zenkaikon is pleased
to announce that its fifth anniversary convention, "Zenkaikon V: The Ides of
March," will take place on March 18-20, 2011 at the Valley Forge Convention
Center and Valley Forge Scanticon Hotel and Conference Center. The event will
offer three days of anime, video gaming, panels, special guests, cosplay,
vendors and more, in a space about four times the size of its previous location.

"We are very excited to have so much more space this year, and to be able to
offer three days of programming. Expanding across two venues means more space to
hold activities and for attendees to spread out," says Convention Chair Matilda
Madden "By moving our event to the spring time frame, we are looking forward to
more pleasant weather, as well as more time to plan, prepare, and acquire staff
for our biggest event yet. While we realize this event is a few months later
than our past conventions, we believe attendees will feel it was well worth the
wait."

The Zenkaikon staff wishes to thank all the attendees who have supported the
convention over the years, helping it grow from only a few hundred attendees in
2006 to nearly two thousand last year. More information regarding special

VALLEY FORGE, PENNSYLVANIA -- May 22, 2010: The Zenkaikon staff is pleased to
announce the opening of pre-registration for Zenkaikon V, as well as a room
block for convention attendees in the Scanticon Hotel Valley Forge.
Pre-registration includes new benefits for both standard and VIP members.


Zenkaikon Pre-Registration

For the first time this year, all pre-registered members will be able to pick up
their convention badges on the Thursday evening before the convention. "We hope
this new benefit will give our members even more time to enjoy convention
events, as they will be able to walk right in when the doors open on Friday,"
says Convention Chair Matilda Madden. Pre-registrants will also get a
significant discount on their membership cost, and may be entered into special
contests only available to pre-registered attendees.

Due to popular demand, Zenkaikon V is also introducing a new and improved VIP
Membership. VIP memberships will only be available to fifty attendees, and
include a number of additional benefits. Benefits include a special convention
badge, a VIP T-shirt, early Friday access to the Dealer room, priority seating
for Main Events, and priority check-in on Thursday evening. "We received a lot
of feedback and suggestions on our forums regarding ways to improve our VIP
memberships this year. We listened, and hope our members will be excited by this
new opportunity," says Head of Communications Kristyn Souder.

Zenkaikon Hotel Room Block

A hotel room block is now open for Zenkaikon V in the Scanticon Valley Forge.
Zenkaikon's group rate is $115.00 plus applicable taxes for rooms accommodating
one to four people. Rooms are available from March 17 through March 21. To make
a reservation, attendees should call (610) 265-1500 and mention that they are
with Zenkaikon to get the special rate.
