can somebody tell me where that anime place in
Philly that sells fansubs is? I would really like to go
there, maybe we can even go as a group, ya know, some
reason for us to get together more then once a month.
<br>Lemme know what you think, or if you can tell me where
this place is.<br>Jason

Y'know, there a word for people who sell fansubs:
BOOTLEGGER. There are lots of distro outfits online that will
charge basically the cost of tape + shipping, or have
SASE policies. I recommend you check out
<a href=http://www.fansubs.net target=new>http://www.fansubs.net</a> and find
what you're looking for there.
<br><br>Speaking as a former fansubber, I'd rather chew broken
glass than buy from a bootlegger.

Nor should you. Bootleggers, pirates or whatever
you wanna call them take the hard work of fans and
charge people WAY too much (any amount more than the
cost of the tape being way too much) and usually pawn
off a crappy copy of OTHER PEOPLE'S WORK!!!! I don't
have the words for the amount of bile these people
instill in me.<br><br>I help found an organization who's
stance against these pirates was decidedly negative. If
you have a bootleg tape, DON'T LET ME SEE
IT!<br><br>If you merely exercise some patience a title will
either become available to you through the fansubbers
themselves, someone who's recieved their product already or a
domestic company who's picked up the right legally. It's
that simple and it will save you A LOT of money you
didn't need to spend.<br><br>I'm ranting again. But I
suppose this is a day for ranting. But not here or
now.<br><br>All I can do is extend my heart and grief towards
those who have suffered this day and hope that cooler
heads will prevail and justice be done.<br><br>Till

Greetings One and All! So glad you could make it
here to our humble...I dunno...web-thingie!
(Dignified, ain't it?)<br><br>Well, I suppose I should start
off with business first. Our next meeting is less
than a week away and I'm looking forward to seeing as
many of you there as possible as well as the usual
contributions we manage to scrape up from God Only Knows Where.
I, for one, have the final episode of Giant Robo on
tap, leveled and at the ready to wring your hearts
"mit das uber-drama" and thwart your mind's capacities
to fully grasp the terms "hyperbole" and
"over-the-top"! In addition, I am trying to dig up some
particularly twisted shorts from my primary source, the good
Robert Fenelon (some may remember him from Otakon).
However, to find them I must brave the cavernous halls of
his marginally organized tape library. Wish me luck!
I may not even return alive or mentally intact!!
(what a friggin' shame that'd be, huh?)<br><br>Anyway,
ignoring the overrated trivialities of sanity, there is
more. I've recently discovered my long-lost roll of
film from Otakon. Now that the developed pictures are
safely in hand I plan on scanning them and posting them
in our Photos section soon. Beware! You may be
seeing more of yourself next time you visit!!
;><br><br>And lastly, I want to encourage people to post pics
and links on the club. That's what it's there for.
However (I love that word!), if you do post something I'd
recommend you mention it in the Messages section. I just
randomly traversed the club's sections and discovered
links and pics that have been here for some
time.<br><br>If you post something, step up to the mike (so to
speak) and say something. I usually check the Messages
just to see if there's some new and interesting
conversation I can harp in on. That's it. And I'm the Admin
for God's sake! Pathetic of me for sure, but it's
what I do. So drop us a line if you have something to
share. Something like;<br><br>"Hey guys! Here's some
neat stuff! Check it
out!"<br><a href=http://foodcourt.cyril.com/
target=new>http://foodcourt.cyril.com/</a><br>"I'll add it to the Links section
as well!
Enjoy!!"<br><br>No fuss...no muss. All I ask are two
things;<br><br>1. Say something.<br><br>2. Keep it clean. No hentai
or the like.<br><br>I don't wanna sound like a prude
but I don't want one person's idea of what's "rilly
neet & kewl" coming back and biting us all in the ass,
especially if someone decides to trace it to Greg who's
store is detailed in the club description. This is an
open-to-all and (more importantly) Listed club on Yahoo.
Anyone can check us out and join. That and I've heard
Yahoo! has been cracking down on it's adult content,
closing clubs and such. You do the math.<br><br>Sorry if
I'm sounding like a bit of an Oni, but I felt it must
be said. This way we're all on the same wavelength
and there will be no bruised feelings if I pull a pic
or link. It's not an attack, just a line in the sand
I'm sure we can all get behind. Wakarimasu-ka?
:)<br><br>That felt good! I haven't ranted in a while. Best I
get it out of my system instead of when people are
trying to watch anime, neh Minna-san?<br><br>And on that
note, I shall draw my rant to it's conclusion. I
encourage feedback, responses and other points of view. By
mail or on the Message board, either will do fine.
Tell me what you
think.<br><br>operationgunsen@...<br>OR<br>malak_the_mad@...<br><br>\

motion to pick up showing Nadia where we left off? It's
such a great show!

Atlantic Coast Championships (top 30-some bands from about
18 states come to compete, wish us luck), and will
not be available. I will be there next month, tho,
so, I'll see you all then.<br><br>Lastly, since he
wanted us to post links and such, here's a link to <a

written down notes last meeting but I'm just covering all
the bases. If I owe you a tape (or tapes) tell me how
many and what's supposed to be on them.<br><br>Second,
what to bring. Last month I forgot to bring a tape of
a new show on Nickelodeon called "Invader Zim". It
is terribly funny and I can bring it if it would
please people.<br><br>I can also bring the newest season
of ReBoot for the benefit of those who don't have
Cartoon Network or just plain missed it.<br><br>And
lastly, a friend of mine taped a special installment of
Toonami's Midnight Run which featured all three Gorillaz
videos, a wonderfully dark clay-mated video and four
videos by Daft Punk all animated by Leiji Matsumoto
(Yamato/Star Blazers, Captain Harlock, Galaxy Express 999,
etc...).<br><br><turns on Inner-Infomercial-Host><br>All these and

get one of those. Also, <b>please</b>
bring Reboot, as I don't have Cartoon Network, and
loved the show when I was able to see it on ABC (or

Subject: The Whole Story
raesvelg
Send Email Send Email

For those who are "out of the loop" ;) the whole
story is this. Sometime during the night of Friday the
21st of December, someone broke into the store through
the fire door at the rear and made off with pretty
much all of the Dragonball Z DVDs, Cards, and the
money out of the register. This was our first serious
break-in ever, and the first one period at this location.
So, picking through the pieces, it was unknown on the
next day whether the person had in fact broken in
through the back door, or had instead hid inside the
store and left through it. The fire lock was damaged,
but whether or not it had been so before the break-in
was anyone's guess. Not knowing for sure, Greg asked
me to see what I could do to block of the inner door
(the door to the storage room where the fire door is,
the "Pocket Dimension"), so I dumped the table boards
used by the miniatures gamers in between the door and
the washer/dryer. In short, nothing without a fire
axe was coming though that door. Which proved
fortunate, since they tried again on Xmas night. After
busting the lock to the fire door (this time completely)
they found themselves stymied by the 5 sheets of wood
blocking them in. First, they apparently assumed that the
door was locked and tried to burn through it (metal
door) with what appears to have been a creme broulet
torch (no joke). After this failed, they beat on the
door for a while, and it moved just enough for them to
realize that it was just blocked not locked, so they
tried really pushing on it, to no avail. Failing that,
they tried prying the door open with a bit of metal
they found in the storage room, and that failed.
Having now given up all hope of entering the store, they
hopped the divider over into the video store and broke
in there, only to trigger their alarm system and
flee. <br><br>Then they apparently came back AGAIN a
day or two later and broke the door open AGAIN (this
time it had a rather jury rigged lock, a bar screwed
into the door which failed to hold) and were stopped
cold by the new lock on the inner door. After that I
went back and instituted a proper jury rigged lock
(metal bar through the handle, pinning it against the
doorframe. Nearly unbreakable) and now we have a new
firelock on that door so nobody is getting in through
there again.<br><br>Still, all things considered, Greg
has decided that before we restart any of the
after-hours activities of the store, that we should have a
security system installed. So next month should be on
(barring the intervention of Katsucon) but for right now
when the store closes, everyone is gone.

Getting to the Roxy was easier than I thought it

exit to go back over the river. Then it's through the
side streets a little to a parking lot that's just a
