in case anyone hasnt already checked the database section, yes, i for one am gonna watch inuyasha on sat, and will do so hoping that other anime people come to our dobson classroom spot to watch it with me!
For series to watch, I have no idea, except for Inuyasha. For just
movies that stand on their own alone, how about:
Akira
Princess Mononoke
Ghost in the Shell
Perfect Blue (but very gross)
Ninja Scroll (little gross too)
Escaflowne (the movie)
Blood: The Last Vampire
Jin-Roh: The Wolf Brigade
heh, heh, and I have all these movies plus more (but they're kinda
dorky or old kid anime from the 80s) How's that for ideas?
I'm kinda curious about the anime series "Great Teacher Onizuka"
and "Strawberry Eggs". I've never seen those...and I'm curious.
I'm looking forward to tomorrow's meeting! Even with all the anime I
enjoy, I have seen none of the anime that is going to be shown
tomorrow. Anyway, this is going to be so awesome, and I'm really
looking forward to Inuyasha airing this Saturday too for the first
time on Cartoon Network at 10 pm (of course I'm looking forward to
it, see my website: http://www.angelfire.com/anime4/inu ). Anyway,
cool, and bye!

If we do have a meeting on the 30th, I can be there. Also, I just
spent the past 2 weeks working on my 2nd AMV, and after about 70
hours of work, it's complete ^^. I used Cowboy Bebop for the anime
and "Still Loving You" performed by the Scorpions with the Berlin
Philharmonic Orchestra for the music. I used DVDs for the video
source, so the quality is excellent (thanks again for letting me
borrow those, Jill ^^). I'll be looking forward to showing it to
everyone.
Jaa,
Gari-san
...if you're going to be in town for our first meeting of the year,
next friday, aug. 30, 2002, in the dobson hall classroom at 7:30pm?
cuz it's labor day weekend, and i'm wondering if holding our first,
most important (?) meeting when very few people will be here.
so reply and let me know.
and for anyone who's wanting to know, my new k-ville # is 627-
2078...so feel free to call or whatnot.
chris? we oughta get together to discuss our meeting stuff, if you
wanna call me sometime. i'm out of town until sunday night, though.
thanks y'all!!
~Jillian, loyal trigun freak and anime goon
The Rei desktops are cool, 'specially the Rei with wings.
Where did you find 'em?
-Chris
(closeted Rei fan)
P.S Oh, finished BoogiePop. Believe me, it just gets weirder as you
go along. Still, very good series.
Heh, I couldn't believe we were lacking an Eva folder ^^. So I hope
no one minds that I took it upon myself to create one. For you Rei
lovers out there *cough*Chris*cough* -- I've added a couple of pretty
cool desktops that I found, featuring Rei. There is a high res and
low res version of each. Check 'em out. I'll probably add a few more
things -- just let me know if I'm taking up too much space. I could
always host the stuff on my ftp and just add links.
Ja,
Gary
My brother's girlfriend, Kat, was visiting recently, and she tells me
about how the anime club in Rolla would have a few simple
posters (like poorer quality b&w) and then would have a few
really good posters in key places.
So I was feeling creative and designed one poster idea. You can
find it in "files."
Please tell me what you think. Thanks!
Remember way back in fall semester when we jokingly discussed what
actors would be good for a live action DBZ movie? Well, our demented
musings may become a reality -- check this out:

*shudders in fear*
~Gary
if you're referring to the monthly manga releases from japan plus
translations, i have scans of each page and the total trans. of each
issue. i think if you look in this group's files: trigun folder,
there'll be info on this and etc stuff too. i've got the japanese
scans posted in the group "trigun" and the translations are sent in
emails through the same group. spiffybug (sarah) takes my scans and
the trans. and makes 'english manga', which she (may be) will post
in our group, in the trigun folder. yeah! trigun!
does that help? want me to forward the translations to you in the
meantime?
~Jillian
Hmmmm.... I would say check out the email I sent to Chris (he posted
it in here). I sent him a list of the anime I've collected thus far,
and I recommend almost everything on that list. The only difficulty
being that it's in DivX format, on CD. Also, you may already know
this, but Hellsing season 2 will be airing over in Japan starting
this October, so I'll definitely be collecting that as it's released.
As far as getting Hellsing: Psalm of the Darkness (season 1) on DVD,
only the 1st DVD has been released so far, which contains the first 3
or fours eps, so it'll probably be a while before the box set is
released. Well, that's all I have for now. Also, Jill, if you're
still sending out that Trigun newsletter, feel free to throw it my
way.
~Gary
ps - eyepatch?!? huuuuhhh? I must have missed something ^^
Hey, it's been a while, but summer semester is almost over, so I
thought I'd drop you an email. I basically spend my days collecting
and
watching anime -- not a bad life ^^. I've got some connections with a
couple fansubbing groups, so I'm like the first person to get some of
the newest episodes airing over in Japan. There's a new one called
Witch Hunter Robin that just started airing last week that's pretty
cool. It's kinda like Hellsing, only it has better animation and sort
of a different feel to it. Also, I now have all of Boogiepop Phantom
(in divX format) and I finally got around to compiling a list of my
collection, so here's that:

Neon Genesis Evangelion: End of Evangelion

Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust
The series with question marks for the total episodes are ones still
airing in Japan right now. I'm thinking we'll have to come up with
some
way for the anime club to get to watch these, 'cause there's just no
way we'll be able to get all this on DVD, and it is very good anime.
If
I can find a used VCR somewhere for cheap, I'd be able to output to
VHS
and we could watch it that way. Either that or I'll have to force the
anime club to make a field trip down to C hall every once in a while
^^. I'll have Aaron as my roommate next semester, and I'll probably
set
the room up so that it's easier for a group of people to view my
monitor, so that wouldn't be too big of a problem. Anyway, I think
I've
rambled on for long enough.
Ja,
Gary
On top of what Jill listed, I'm interested in seeing:
Escaflowne
Ghost in the Shell
and more Magic Users Club (I don't know if you guys liked it, but I
thought it was funny)
I also think we should try to wrap up series by semester. That
way, someone doesn't join at the beginning and wonder why
we're watching ep #14 of something.
And one more note: I've posted some Trigun transcripts in the
Trigun folder under "Files", if anyone is interested.
i'm thinking before meeting starts, i come early like usual and play
cowboy bebop and or trigun eps as people show up. and we can share
fanart, doujinshi, manga in this time as well. cuz i love my YKO
issues, and ps you all: they have hellsing, trigun, AND EXCEL SAGA
in them. i know come y'all like excel saga.
then during meeting we can watch stuff we havent all already seen,
like:
excel saga: for crazy hilariousness
hellsing: for zombies, vampires, strong female figures, and gore!
boogiepop phantom: for insanity's sake
lain: for same reason, either to finish off or to start over in
japanese
inu yasha: maybe just a little bit, for cultural stuff and
light 'tenchi-like' genre
what else...
....er...um...
well, those are my brief ideas. any else you guys? if you suggest
any, please let's reply with who has what. for instance, could we
watch the titles i and you list, do we own it? i personally own only
cowboy bebop and trigun, and some manga. i wish to buy hellsing, but
will likely wait till the boxset is released in teh u.s. so let's
see what we can conjure up for the fall semester!
go anime club! dangit!!
~Jillian, enthused despite my eyepatch...hehe...
And you posted my Trigun-ish people! Yay!
BTW, y'all need to vote in the 2nd pole. Right now the walking
cherry tree is winning by a landslide. =D
And don't worry about members for now... we have limited
recruitment abilities pre-fall semester. And we're starting to
almost nearly become organized.
Frightening, isn't it. >=)
