Re: The House [Erik, Philippe, Christine]   Message List

As Philippe started to play his violin and Erik soon joined in on the organ, Christine closed her eyes briefly, allowing herself to be swept up in the melody.  She hummed softly; but not loud enough for Erik or Philippe to hear.  It was really something, though, to hear them playing together.  Christine had not heard anything quite like it in a long time.  So engrossed was she in the music she did not feel Suzette leave her side, propping her doll, Sophie, up before she did.  There was a long silence when the music stopped and it took Christine some time to open her eyes again.  When she did, what she saw first was Erik tilt Philippe's chin up to catch the light from the candles all around them.  She heard Erik praise her son, and knew that in this case at least, she had made the right decision, despite what Raoul had believed.  Erik was the right tutor for her son.

"Brava, Philippe." she said softly from her place on the couch.

The next thing she saw, or rather didn't, was her daughter.

"Where ... where is Suzette?" she asked cautiously, standing up.

Erik's hand was ice cold, but either Christine didn't notice or didn't care. All she was concerned about at the moment was the whereabouts of her daughter....
