Claiming our future by reclaiming our past…



Our thoughts, artwork, music and dance, crafts, religions, and many other traditions were all born in ancient times and were handed from generation to generation because they were a way of life and truly important to the people… these traditions and the people that formed them should not be forgotten, for they are the strong roots on which we grow…

Each year, the DFW area is host to so many events that it is hard to keep up with, from Scarborough Faire, Irish Fest, Oktoberfest and many others, to all the cultural based international festivals in the area, not to mention the groups that create and attend these events, plus our local cultural based dancers, re-enactors, and music classes and troupes abound, so the creation of a center to help the general population learn and reach out for their heritage has long been needed. The DFW area has been the home to many diverse groups for people to explore the traditions, crafts, belief systems and arts of many different cultures, both ancient and modern, but there has been no central location for such groups to meet, celebrate, and grow…until now…welcome home…

Ancient Traditions is being created to give a home to the growing interest in our past and its effects on our future. We will be welcoming existing groups in the area to join us and use the facility to house their classes, events, practices and crafts, as well as offer an open place for new groups and interests to form. We chose to create a cultural center instead of a community center because a community will ebb and flow, changing and moving, but the cultures and traditions that have been handed up through time encompass so much more than a single community, and will allow us to offer so much more of a variety of classes and events.
