Description
Amigas del Señor Monasterio Metodista is a Methodist Monastery for women in Limón, Colón, Honduras. Founded in 2006, there are currently two sisters: Sister Confianza (Prairie Cutting) and Sister Alegría (Beth Blodgett).
Called to live as poor among the poor, our daily life is built around morning, afternoon, and evening prayer times and consists of the physical work of life in the country such as cutting firewood, washing laundry by hand, cooking on the woodfire stove, and gardening. Every Monday we volunteer at the Centro de Salud (Public Health Clinic) in Limón, where Sister Alegría (a pediatrician) sees patients and Sister Confianza runs the pharmacy. We are influenced by Methodist and Quaker spirituality as well as traditional monasticism, and have a Covenant of Caring with Multnomah Monthly Meeting of Friends (Quakers) in Portland, OR.
