Most of us here in the Alt keyboard forum are truly dedicated to seeing to it
that the user interface between man and his main machine in improved, none more
so than me.
Did you know that it was estimated back in the early 1970's that America alone
had lost more than one trillion dollars in productivity potential from the time
the Dvorak keyboard was invented until then. And, that was way before personal
computers became household items. My guesstimate is that it hovers around a
trillion dollars per year at this point in time.
In the new eBook version of my book: Ronald Reagan: Anti-Christ there is a
chapter called the Design Science Revolution, a large segment of which is
devoted to promoting the use of the Dvorak Keyboard.
Although there are many reasons for Dvorak not now being the universal standard,
in my opinion none is more easily correctable than the marketing plan for the
keyboard. I have designed a couple of items to promote my website and book
using the Dvorak Keyboard as the bait. The advertising slogan is a twist on the
campaign that elected Barack Obama as president of The United States of America.
I have answered his ambiguous notion of Change -Yes we Can, with the slogan:
Yes, we can Dvorak. It plays upon a well known and totally successful theme and
gets right to the point the change we need is a switch from Qwerty to Dvorak
with the word Dvorak substituting for change. The slogan also changes Dvorak
from a noun to a verb. We can Dvorak. To Dvorak means to type faster, more
efficiently and to reap all of the benefits associated with this keyboard
layout.
I know that not everyone here is a total supporter of Dvorak but after weighing
the options, as I see it there are only two, Maltron or Dvorak, I've decided to
make the push for Dvorak because the physical keyboard is the same for new users
and it is already built-in to most computers.
Here is where you, the members of this forum come in.
We need a volunteer effort to make Dvorak a reality. For the truly devoted I am
asking that you visit http://www.lightoftheworld.com and really get into the
site. You will find information on how to create laser-like-light in your hands
with black balloons that can be bought in The Good Works Shop. Then you can
purchase a black T-shirt to use while reflecting that has the Yes. We can Dvorak
slogan on it. Those you can get by clicking on the link that says The Emperor's
Dvorak made Clothes. You can also buy a video camera to record your reflector
performances and feel free to send them to me. I will post as many as I can.
Dvorak is just one stone in the house I am building but it is the cornerstone of
progress. For more casual promoters and friends of Dvorak I am asking you to
visit my web site and purchase either a T-shirt for $9.97 or a poster for $4.99
and use them at high visibility events and in high visibility areas. The
T-shirts contain the slogan, an image of the keyboard layout and directs people
to http://www.lightoftheworld.com where they can get further information.
On the web site I have a prominent link that says Change? Yes. We can Dvorak
that links to m. w. brooks Dvorak page. Further down the page is the Emperor's
Dvorak made clothes link to the site where I sell the T-shirts and poster. I
make 98 cents on these T-shirts but the posters are sold at cost. At some point
in time I will have to compensate the graphic designer of the layout and would
like to contribute to help grow this forum. Contact me if you have further
suggestions as to how to make this campaign successful.
