Kavkaz-Center

"All assigned combat missions have been carried out"

A member of the staff of the Ingush mujahedeen, identifying himself as
Amir Assadula, called the "Kavkaz-Center" agency on the phone and gave
the following informations (the text of the statement has been
stylistically corrected):

"On the night of 22 June, in accordance with the previously affirmed
military operation plan, united subdivisions of the Ingush mujahedeen
and mobile groups from Chechnya who had joined them, entered a number
of populated areas of Ingushetia and attacked locations of Russian
occupying forces and the Ingush police.

The entire operation went according to plan. Seven military and
militia bases were destroyed or partially burnt during the combat
actions. The building of the Interior Ministry of Ingushetia was
destroyed. Between 150 and 200 pro-Russian militiamen and Russian
occupiers were killed.

More than 300 occupiers and pro-Russian militiamen were wounded. 23
pieces of various military and automobile equipment were burnt. We
seized two motor vehicles with arms as trophies.

We refute all statements that our subdivisions allegedly attacked
civilian objects and citizens. This is a lie. Our targets were
military objects and enemies who were armed to the teeth. And we
struck these targets.

By special order, the subdivisions of the auto-inspection of the
Ingush Interior Ministry and the Ministry for Emergency and Disaster
Reliefn were excluded from the targets for our subdivisions and
didn't come under attack.

At 3.15 in the morning of 22 June, our subdivisions left all occupied
populated areas in an organized way. At the given moment (5.25 p.m.
Moscow time), our main forces have reached their military bases. The
remaining covering units are conducting local military activities,
intercepting the attempts of the enemy to block the movement of the
mainforces. The covering units managed their tasks. Fighting is
taking place in some sectors of southern Ingushetia. Several
reconnaissance groups of the mujahedeen entered into skirmishes with
enemy spetsnaz forces.

The total losses of the mujahedeen as a result of the fighting in the
populated areas, the assault on the military and militia bases and the
withdrawal of our armed forces, are 6 killed and 14 wounded
mujahedeen.

The total number of troops taking part in the operation was one attack
batallion according to the manning rules stipulated by the mujahedeen
command.

All assigned combat missions have been carried out. The military
operations against the occupying forces and the puppet police on the
territory of Ingushetia will continue. We have created special
reconnaissance parties, which already for months have been tracking
the activity of the Ingush IM and FSB and identified the persons who
participated in kidnappings and murders of Ingush Muslims and forced
migrants from Chechnya. Determined work to eliminate them physically
will be carried out against these persons.

Furthermore, we turn your attention to the fact that Murad Zyazikov,
who calls himself President of Ingushetia, hasn't taken any actions
to end the lawlessness in the republic, in spite of the serious
warning he received when he almost lost his life. There will be no
more warnings for Zyazikov."
