Floyd,
This is in responce to ur newsletter request for a seasoned detective
to help you find a site, I think this is the one you are looking for.
The story you related sounds much like the island nation of Albonia,
aka: Aqualandia and Taluga, located roughly 20 miles west of San
Diego, Ca., on the Cortes Bank reef. Three cities were planned for the
new Nation, Aurora, Bonaventura and Tirana. Other plans included a
number of hotels, casinos, and an airport. No military conflict took
place, although the US Gov't attempted to place the sovereign Nation
under the control of the US Army Corps of Engineers, and the Dept. of
the Interior based on the 1899 Rivers & Harbors Act. The battle which
followed claimed Edwin Miller, an attorney for the US DOJ had in
effect committed treason by acting to enforce US law beyond the 3-mile
limit.
If this sounds like the missing link you're searching for... hey all
you had to do was ask your dutiful moderator and LT researcher. Give
me a call and we can negotiate terms for some books I hear your
looking to offload, and at which I am presently in need of.

Jeeez Floyd... The first time in my life when I really thought I had
the right answer and you want fiction? Just my luck. Welcome back!

Is this picture on the home page here an actual retrieval by somebody?
What I mean, is it a picture of a genuine treasure that was found? If
so, can you give us as much background, etc....(without compromising
any obligations)about it? I have (only now) looked at this more
closely, and the gold looks like newly minted gold. And those pearls I
always assumed were fake because they were so uniform. BUT, old-time
pearls of highest value were stranded this way.ALL matching! So, I
suspect they are not costume jewelry....am I wrong? stvn.
I am looking for a treasure hunting partner. I live in Arivaca, AZ.
and would like to find someone who also treasure hunts in my area.
Please post to this group if intersted. I have lots of info, books and
maps, but don't like to go out alone. Thanks.

................regarding Mason, the reward was actually $500, and
what this write up did NOT state was that three of his cronnies took
his head to the governor as proof they killed him.The three had lesser
rewards.Morons figured the governor would pay.....Which he did, but
not with money, but a rope. This location is a State Park, and
treasure-hunting is a prosecution offense, sadly. Michael Paul Henson
detected this site many times, and always came back with all kinds of
relics and coins, finding a tidey cache of coins on one trip in the
late 70's. stvn.
Very well done! Calling the "Privateers" made it legat, btw, for them
to do what they were doing for a number of years.A little known but
very interesting historical fact. stvn.

I just came upon this one last night. It caused me to dream about
pirate movies I've seen. Now, I wanna go on amazon & ebay to see how
many of these I can BUY! This is the LARGEST list of pirate movies
I've ever seen. (The 1934 original version of "The Count of Monte
Cristo" is the one that got me hooked in about 1967 when I saw it for
the first time at age 7.) stvn. http://www.thepirateking.com/movies/
This is one of the first links I found last year that got me all
interested in pirates, river-pirates , that is.... It doesn't read
like very much(a bit "dry"), but this entry is over 120 years old.
That is what impressed me, and that is what got me thinking.... stvn.
