I heard they made hugh strides in Massachusetts regarding alimony reform.  If you haven't heard about it, I can certainly send you the information and contact person.  I'm originally from MA.  Lived in Brookline and worked at Harvard Medical School.

Our proposed alimony reform only allows THREE years of rehabilitive alimony.  Texas already instituted this law, and we are trying to get our legislation to follow in their footsteps.

My husband is court ordered to pay permanent, lifetime alimony in the amount of $2500/mo until he dies.  Where's the fairness in that?

What state do you live in?

I believe we shouldn't just be going after lifetime alimony we should be going after alimony altogether. My boyfriend although not paying lifetime alimony was sentenced to pay alimony for 18 years at the age of 47 which means until the age of 65. 18 years is an extremely long time - in this time I believe she would be able to get her life together within 4 years but of course the court systems allow her to just live off the ex-husband.
