AJ used to be a chubby little boy. He lost a lot of weight when he ventured into basketball when he was eight years old. That was when the doors to showbiz opened up for him. He was scouted while strolling in a mall somewhere in Makati. Like other aspiring commercial models, he underwent several VTRs before landing to his first commercial stint with Globe. From there, he was casted in the UFC commercial, popularizing the phrase "ye-bah!". However, it was his Milo TV Commercial that showcased his basketball skills which eventually captured the attention of ABS-CBN bosses. He attended self-enhancement workshops with Talent Center and was launched as a member of Star Magic Batch 13. His proud parents are from Bicol(mother) and Bacolod(father).
