Hi All,

The Arbor Heights Elementary School website has been on the Internet for nearly 14 years now. It was the 9^th elementary school in the world with a web site. A year later it was featured in The Road Ahead, by Bill Gates.

It now takes a major step forward, establishing a wiki as the school home page. The wiki has existed for over two years, during which time a considerable amount of content has been added – much of it by Arbor Heights parents!

The old web page will continue to reside where it has since 1994: http://www.halcyton.com/arborhts/ - but if you go to http://arborheights.com now, you’ll end up at our school wiki.

The new home page there has a hybrid kind of quality to it right now – with wiki links on the left side, live rss feeds on the right, and our school information in the center…. Scroll down and you’ll see the familiar little icons from the old school home page – they still connect to the same web pages.

One major advantage of a wiki is that instead of the website’s traditional one author, or “webmaster”, the wiki relies on the contributions and collaboration of multiple authors. If you are a member of our Arbor Heights Elementary community, please consider becoming a contributor on the wiki. Click on “Join”, make up a username/password, and enter your email. You’ll then be able to work on the wiki.

I’ll be offering a little intro to the process for families and staff early in the school year. Enjoy the rest of the summer - September is just around the corner! - Mark
