Ralph and others on this item,
I experience this problem already since 2007 with PePro. Other external USB
soundcards have the same problem (XP)
There are several workarounds like those you mention, but finally the volume
settings are not saved/cannot be set either.
Using Administrator rights does not solve this, neither does a different folder
than Program Files solve all problems.
I also found out that even when the external soundcard was visible for -for
instance- output, the internal one was used.
Until now I always have to check the soundcard and setup the volume levels when
I use PePro. I received a beta version 710 once from George and it solved a lot
of the problems recognizing the USB soundcard, but volume levels stayed a
problem all the way.
For some months I try to get PePro (ver. 710) running on my other -Vista-
notebook. But in that case the -installed- virtual networkcard was not found by
PePro. Did not try any further yet. (because 30 days expired)
Hope this info is usefull.

Thank you for your report, Rene.

I hope George SV2AGW is listening. It looks like these problems will have to
be resolved with programming changes.

Not too much traffic on this topic. Is this not the right place for this? Over
the years I've paid for a registration at least twice for this program. I'm not
going to do it again. If this isn't the place, what is?

Willie,

There is only one person who can send you the code you need -- George
SV2AGW. If he happens to notice your posting on this list, he will respond.

BUT the better way is probably to write him directly at
sv2agw(at)sv2agw.com. (Plus, you won't be sending an unnecessary email to
everyone on this list.)

His policy is to give you a new registration code without charge for a new
installation under the same callsign.

Good luck and 73

I am running Windows 7 64 bit with multiple sound card interfaces. One
sound card is the default card attached to my speakers and the second is
a US Interface Navigator. I have noticed that Packet Engine Pro will not
transmit audio unless the US Interface is set to the default sound
device for both sound and record. Has anyone else encountered this
behavior and what did you do to correct it? Could the developer add an
additional sound card selection in the radio port configuration, one for
transmit and one for receive?

Hi

I changed compiler and decided to change also AGWTracker's feel and look. It
is for Vista and Win7. It may work on WinXP SP3.
Have a look
www.agwtracker.com/AGWTracker_new1.jpg
www.agwtracker.com/AGWTracker_new2.jpg

This is a Beta version and may have bugs(a Lot!!!)
To test it PSE do the follow
1.Run AGWTracker you have installed now and change Language to English.
2.Download the beta version from www.sv2agw.com/beta/AGWTracker.exe
3.Drop the executable into Documents directory
4.Run it from there.

PSE report the bugs in details.

If you wish to translate AGWTracker to your language PSE read this
www.agwtracker.com/trkinternational.htm Translators get free registrations
for all my programs Packet Engine Pro AGWTracker, AGWDxCluster etc.

I too have used the prolific drivers for USB ßà RS-232 adapters successfully
on XP, Vista and Windows 7, variations on x86 and x64.

*however* it can take some time finding just the *right* version of the driver
to use.

Not all Prolific chipset based products are ‘equal’ it seems.

Ie: the drivers from the prolific site did not work for me.

Your mileage may vary.

I want to be able to put AGWPE Pro in the startup folder so that it
runs automatically when the machine boots up. This doesn't work,
because every time I run the program, windows forces me to acknowledge
that I want it to run. Under Vista, it would at least tell you that a
program in the startup was not run and let you chose to run it
manually. I have recently upgraded my machine to Win7, and it does not
even do this much - it just doesn't run the program. The non-pro
version of the program does not have this problem.

I uninstalled and reinstalled the program so that it is not in the
"Program Files" directory, thinking this would solve the problem, but it
did not help. Plus, now the program thinks it is not registered, so I
need a new registration key, as well.

Is there a way to install AGWPE-Pro so that it will run without windows
prompting me every time to verify that I want it to run?

Should I reinstall in the default directory ("Program Files"), or just
leave it in its own directory?

I just installed AGWPE PRO. It works well with my VHF TNC, but I cannot get it
to work properly with a sound card. It does not decode HF APRS. The tuning aid
indicates that the signals are strong and on the correct frequency but nothing
decodes.

Before installing AGWPE Pro I used the free version with no problems.

Now that the Pro version is installed the free version does not decode HF APRS
either.

Any suggestions?

I'm running XP and a home brew interface that works well with APRS Messenger,
RMS Express, Ham Radio Deluxe, and in the past with the AGWPE free version.

I'll answer my own question. The problem was the clocking speed. I turned the
speed setting down from 4 to 3 and it now works. I'd need to purchase a better
sound card.

I am running HF APRS and APRS Messenger simultaneously with AGWPE Pro and
UI-View32 but I want a better sound card.

My desktop is fully populated so I'll have to use an external sound card.

If you are running a similar configuration and are satisfied with your sound
card please let me know the make, model, sampling rate, and number of bits of
your sound card.

Your comments and suggestions will be very much appreciated.
