Tigley family tree   Message List
Reply | Forward Message #234 of 253 |

i have posted in the Files section here my juan tigley family reconstruction from data i gathered from the parish books and from interviews of members of the family.  and since  many (a majority) of the children were women, the surnames just set off every which way, making it quite a challenge to even keep track.

the original spelling of the surname was tegley, and tegley is also what appeared in the catálogo de apellidos that accompanied the 1849 claveria decree. This eventually became tigley during the american period, I suspect because of us cebuano's disregard for the "e" sound.  so that today, no known descendant, in barili or elsewhere, still carries the original spelling.

i hope aguilars can go over this.  this is my purpose for posting it on this site, that a member can recognize his own family line here and continue this family tree. I hope they will communicate with me, email vipaleonar@..., for their additions/edifications.  no. 696 starts an aguilar line that I hope can be continued to the present family members who are members of aguilardebarili yahoogroup.

In the AKA column, the abbreviation pDn means pre-(1849 claveria) Decree name.

i have not been able to connect the mateo tegley line, and also, narciso tegley whose only origin record was his mother, a victoria tegley but obviously this cannot be the victoria daughter of mateo who was born only 1855.

last year, we started a carcar group and are now busying ourselves reconstructing our carcar families genealogies. for barili, i know an extensive vergara tree has been on the web for some time already, and there are the paraz, aguilar and trinidad family trees, and maybe the causin and other families have also made theirs. I must admit that some of my data were indeed grabbed from those trees, thanks to lino aguilar, for whose efforts and work towards these should be named an outstanding barilinian.

thanks for the space.
