After Dark. The National Magazine of Entertainment. It started in the late sixties and folded in the early eighties, and along the way it provided a unique perspective on the arts and urban life. After Dark covered all of the performing and visual arts, with interviews and articles on subjects not to be found in the mainstream monthlies. After Dark was an entertainment guide for readers in the large cities, and it allowed the non-urban readers to stay current with the arts.

We scan and post images from After Dark, and if you see an After Dark cover to the right, it is the cover of the issue which is presently being posted. Because this is a group rather than a web site, the only way to view the images posted to the group is to obtain individual emails. These emails will likely be very large. The dimensions of the scans will probably be at least the size of the originals. We are interested in the text of the articles as well as the photos, so the text should be readable. Members without material to post are definitely welcome, and are encouraged to share any additional information or comments on the items which are posted. If you want to refresh your memories of the arts in the seventies, this is your group.

After Dark was marketed to adults, but THIS IS NOT AN ADULT GROUP. There was occasional nudity in After Dark, but it was rather mild by today's standards, and there was no age restriction for purchases of the magazine. We don't anticipate having teenage members, but we are going to keep it clean in this group.
