I just bought the DVD collection and watched through all the episodes
again. Now that I'm done, I've been scouring google trying to find
some repost of these guides. The author - Steve Rach Mirarchi - was my
high school English teacher, so finding them has become a deeply
personal crusade for me. Apparently the website they were hosted on
went down years ago. I would appreciate it if anyone on here had any
leads for me or happened to have saved them from back in the day. Thanks!

Well, seems that MTV just released Aeon Flux for the iTunes Music Store: http://
phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewTVSeason?id=158779790&s=143441
So, once they get the Simpsons, I'm set.

It's from the pilot, which was chopped up into little two or three
minute segments and shown on *Liquid Television*. I believe that it was
in the first segment aired, but if you have the DVD or the video tape,
the pilot has been pieced back together into one episode.

For anyone in UK, the complete animated series is £10.99 at
www.play.com I just got rid of my ancient VHS and finally got the DVD
version.
Unfortunately the packaging wasnt as nice as the picture, its regular
cases not the nice flip out packaging, but still £10.99 delivered is a
great price.

I suppose I am just as guilty as any here. If you don't know me, I'm
Rick, and I joined looking for AF fiction. It seems there isn't a lot,
and what little I've seen is pretty...sparse, to say the least. I
contrast this to another fandom I belong to, another MTV creation,
Daria, and to a lesser extent, Beavis and Butthead. Interest, in my
opinion, lies in members adding their personal twist to a character or
storyline. Aeon is hard, as there is little dialogue, and what there is
is highly ambiguous as regards to the story. Peter Chung was a
visualist, and the world he created doesn't lend itself well to written
adaptation. In short, there's no playbook, no bible, upon which a
fandom can draw from. Art is cool, but even that is missing, and again,
what little I've seen leans toward the overtly adult as opposed to what
would be considered 'canonical'. There. How's that for participation? :P
not in any order if you have seen them already - skip
those and watch the ones you yet to watch. Some more
sci fi, some a lot more action
1. Serenity
2. Equilibrium
3. The Returner (Japanese)
4. Matrix
(all of them, even though a lot of ideas are from
Chung)
5. Ultraviolet
6. Blade Runner
7. Resident Evil ( part 1,2)
8. 28 Days ( European version)
9. La Femme Nikita
10. Ong Bak (thai) (all action and not very sci fi,
just great to watch)
11. Battle Royale (japanese)
12. Blade ( all of them)
13. Kill Bill (action)
( that is about all I can think of for now)
<http://www.atomfilms.com/content/ninjai/>
to watch a cool animation of a story of a ninja...
make sure to watch chapters #1-12, they all have bad
trailers first. Be patient it is worth it

Well...as a one-track mind, I thought the film could have had a better
climatic battle scene: the animation has that stupdendous "raining
baddies" sequence..there were a few weak imitations in the flim. Too
bad...Charlize Theron has a great sardonic look as she guns down black-
clad foes.
I thought the movie was OK, but I am still a huge fan of Chung's original
animations. Can anyone recommend any similar features that are similar to
Chung's Aeon Flux? Yes I have seen Reign, I thought that was only OK too. But
I'd love to here any other suggestions!!!

I guess it is as well. I remember posting pics of the movie here along time
ago and no one even gave me thanks at all.

Its not the most active of groups, but if someone brings something up,
theres usually a small discussion.
It was indeed exceptional....that scene of her running down the
corridor lined with guards and shooting upwards and bodies falling
behind her was one of the most exciting of its type I've ever seen.
That was an exceptional scene. According to the commentary by Peter Chung on the
3-disc compilation, that was the scene he created and played for MTV to sell
them on the idea of signing on the shorts.

There's a similar scene, only it has much, much, much, much less blood.

For me one of the most memorable scenes was Aeon'a attack on the
Fortress.. and the rain of shot baddies falling from the balcnies..is
that scene attmepted in the movie?
For those disappointed in the new movie and are in need of movies that
are like the show, i recommend these movies that are very "Aeon
Flux"-esque:
"Blade Runner".
" Brazil".
" Fifth Element".
" Total Recall".
" Dark City".
" The Running Man".
" The 6th Day".
" Terminator Trilogy".
" Escape from New York".
" Akira".
" Ghost in The Shell".
" Ghost in The Shell 2".
" Ninja Scroll".
" The Professional: Golgo 13".
" Matrix series".
" Gattaca".
" Metropolis ( 1927 and 2001)".
" Jin-Roh".
...This is the standard "Hi! My name is..." posting usually reserved
for the "adult" groups, but I thought I should at least give whoever is
here the benefit of knowing who (or what) I am. I was a fan of the toon
from its inception, along with The Maxx, Brothers Grimm, and Liquid TV,
Beavis & Butthead, and Daria. At present, I am a vicarious fan of the
latter, and have a stalled webcomic (Daria@Raft), as well as a number
of fanfictions regarding that show. I also have a crossover with AF and
I was wondering if any fans may be interested in seeing it? If not, no
big deal, but I am interested in any and all artwork and images related
to Aeon, as well as possibly acquiring some of the videos (only have
one-can't remember title atm). Thank you, Rick
let's face it, what made the aeon flux cartoon great was the fact that
it was bizarre and - at the best of times- barely made any sense....
But that was a good thing!!!! Good in a very "David Lynch meets
Sci-Fi" kind of way...
the plot (and the morality) of the cartoon was usually fairly
immaterial to the story as a whole.
The really great thing about Chungs cartoons was the fact they were
such dark (and strangely sensual) little trips into the unexpected...
But this movie was with Charleze was pretty much flawed on all these
counts.
The plot clumped it's way to the front of the screen and stayed there,
probably out of sheer boredom, for the whole film...
Which left no room for any kind of david lynch type bizarre-ness. ..
Everyone in the film was either brimming with "do-gooder" morality or
had none at all... you know, all that boring 'life is black and white
' well worn hollywood schlock...
the film wasn't even that dark... lots of nice green grass and sunny
walkways, not a hint of spiralling societal maddess and tryannical
overtones so prevalent in the cartoon...
And worst of all everything made sense!!! A follows B follows C... no
wonder critics hated this film. Talk about painting by numbers!!!!
Chungs cartoon was a love affair between two stylishly arrogant people
who were both hell bent on destroying the other and what they represented.
This movie however was just a bad knock off of tomb raider...
good actress, good effects... bad story...
and that's all i have to say about that

I haven't listened to the bonus CD yet, but this music was originally
released as a double-CD album by Drew Neumann:
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B00000014X/104-9040080-2441532?v=g\
lance&s=music&vi=samples#disc_1http://www.allmusic.com/cg/amg.dll?p=amg&sql=10:krhqoayaiij9
Notice that Disc 1 has the same track names as for the DVD bonus CD.
Also notice that Disc 2 has 7 tracks on it. There's no way they could
have crammed the entire second disc onto the DVD bonus CD, however, as
it's way too long.
