The Shire of Burgandy is a subdivision within the Empire of Adria, a non-profit, educational organization dedicated to the study and recreation of Western European culture between the years 1066 and 1603. The Shire of Burgandy encompasses the mundane counties in Northeastern/Central Pennsylvania.

The Empire of Adria was founded on March 15, 1987 in Long Beach, CA as the Kingdom of Adria. The first event of the Kingdom of Adria was a feast celebrating the birthday of one of the Founding Viscounts, Sir Antoine de Burgandy. The Kingdom of Adria eventually grew and expanded into the Empire of Adria.

Reenactors are offered equal opportunity to gain knighthoods in Combat, Arts & Sciences, Ministry and Archery through a rolls/point system.

The Adrian Empire was the first and original reenactment organization of its type, from which similar societies were initiated.

Sir Antoine eventually moved from California back to his home in northeastern/central Pennsylvania where he and his wife, Jeanne’ le bleu de Burgandy have now founded the Shire of Burgandy. Inside the borders of the Shire of Burgandy, you will discover and experience many old and some lost traditions of Adria. Some of these traditions date back to the first household of the Kingdom of Adria, known as “House de Burgandy” of which Sir Antoine was Signore and also to the Duchy of Isle de Feu, mundanely known as the USS Missouri, of which Sir Antoine was titled the Grand Duc, making him the first Duc of the Empire of Adria.
