Hi,
I read your email with some interest. My soon to be ex-wife and I
experienced the same frustration with the IAC, and, the whole
experience I am sure many people have dealt with. Although we
embraced the experience at first, the disappointment in not receiving
anything except a single phone call, wore us down. In the end we
felt as if we were nothing more that a number in their statistics,
the kind of which aren't shared with IAC hopefuls. I can't be exact
but I think we were "on the list" for about 14 months. My wife was
devastated. Although this experience wasn't the primary reason for
our pending divorce, we certainly felt the strain. She developed
several health issues, many of which I believe are to be blamed on
stress.
During this whole experience, I absolutely felt abandoned by the IAC
after the money was paid and "our letter" was finalized. In all
fairness, it is easy to point the finger, and hard to realize and
admit we probably should have pursued a different path from the
beginning.
Would I recommend the IAC to anyone pursuing adoption. NO!! Would
someone who has experienced the joys of parenthood and success with
the IAC, probably an even stronger YES!!! YES!!!
Such is life, money never could buy the most important things in
life, and statistics do lie!
Ciao..
