Hi everyone,
You all know what's going on in Tibet, I'm sure. The Dalai Lama has
been resilient about advocating peaceful action and talks with the
Chinese officials. But he has also been resilient about holding
China accountable for their treatment of Tibetans.
I was especially proud that Representative Nancy Pelosi, Speaker of
the U.S. House of Representatives, met with the Dalai Lama and voiced
her personal opinion against Chinese oppression of Tibet. She is a
credit to her country.
I am amazed that China is blaming the Dalai Lama for the violence in
Tibet. In everything I have read about him over the years, he has
been so consistent about his message of advocating the middle way for
peaceful talks and autonomy for Tibet.
What do you think about this? Do you think that the middle way can
work? It seems especially hard given the violence that's been
happening over the years. At lot of this violence has been by
Chinese officials who have committed human rights abuses.
I hope we can have a dialogue about this.
In lovingkindness,
Shira
