nyone collect Starting Lineups on this group, if
so, drop me a line. How do you go about getting the
good ones? Go to a dealer? Or Dept. Store? Give me
some good ideas. I have about 25-30, but would like to
collect more. Thanks a lot for listening. --- John
m I the only one who's tired of the silly
variations in toy lines? Ice Blade Batman. Spider-Chopper
Spider-Man.

I realize that once you've released the basic
version of the character, you might think the market
done. But rather than Hydro Batman, I'd rather see more
of the supporting characters and villains. Where's
Jim Gordon? Where's Barbara Gordon? Since it's a new
animated line, where's the new Poison Ivy, the new Mr
Freeze (with removable head and spider-bot!). Why can't
we get a basic Batgirl without buying the 4-figure
set?

(As an aside--the Flip-n-Trap Spidey, without it's
acoutrements, is definitely THE COOLEST Spider-Man form, bar
none!)
ome Made Heroes is a new club under "Comic
Books" here on Yahoo, dedicated to exchanging of
'recipes' for making all the cool toys that the toymakers
don't. Want a Supergirl figure? You can make one out of
Poison Ivy. Looking for Shazam? Doc Samson is a good
start. What have you made? Share! :-)

PS: What
about that flip-trap Spider-Man figure? Is that not
*the* best Spider-Man figure ever released???
1 - The Oriental Trading Company catalog has the
SW Pez for sale at @ $12/box. They also have some
really wild knockoff items, like a TIE fighter shaped
kaleidoscope/magnifier toy (you look thru the ball cockpit) and some
water squirting spaceships that look amazingly like
badly painted Slave I, Falcons, MONOpod cloud cars,
and, I think, a landspeeder.

#2 - Big Lots/Odd
Lots stores have foreign carded figures for $4.
n the New England area, Rancors and Banthas can
be found at most stores. A few Luke on Tauntaun's
were available early this summer, but are virtually
unfindable now. I've never seen any other Hoth stuff except
in Toy Fare or Go Figure magazines (btw, I meant to
post some updates last week, but got sidetracked with
a business trip. Please let me know if you would
like the latest news from these mags). I've not seen
new figure waves for a few weeks now. I recently
picked up the 8D8 droid, and before that some Ugnaughts,
but I've not seen the resculpted Leia or C3PO w/
removable limbs in any store other than a second market
(like comic book) store.

Most of the stores
around Boston are still choking on Small Soldiers and
other summer tie-in merchandise (some of them are still
trying to unload Batman Forever toys, for crying out
loud). Hopefully, as Christmas comes around they'll
start clearing and restocking shelves. I really don't
like paying second market prices.
ard to beleive but there are plenty of the
deluxe
rancor and bantha packs here,at walmart and target and
hard to believe even k-mart ! I have the deluxe
Bantha, but scalpers are getting bad every- where!Hard to
believe we have these in ky , were usally last to get the
stuff here . Later on , Buzz
have been all over the New Orleans area and
have yet to see any Star Wars Beasts aside from the
original 3 and the Deluxe Rancor and Bantha. Where are all
the Hoth beast packs? I haven't even seen new figures
past the Ishi Tib wave. Are the scalpers that
bad?
Eric
get all the new POTF2 stuff, mainly. I also
pick up loose SW stuff from the old days when I see
it, as well as other old things. I got a Steve Austin
for $1 at a yard sale. He was complete and in good
shape.
I got the KISS stuff, Lady Death, and some Trek. I
had the entire Playmates collection, got disgusted
with it and sold it all. Well, almost all. I still
have 25 random figures SIP that I would sell for $100
+ shipping.
I have an OK robot collection,
mostly loose TransFormers and some Japanese Ultraman
stuff.
saw that larger Vader at the toy store, pretty
cool!! I think the best figure from Kenner this year has
been the smaller size Vader with Removable helmet and
detachable hand.

I just picked up the two available
two-packs for the Return of the Jedi band members (Sy
Snootles & Joh Yowza and Barquin D'an & Droopy McCool -
one "classic" character and one "special edition").
Max Rebo & Doda Bodonawieedo will be out later this
fall. I believe these are Wal-Mart exclusives, so if
you don't have a one nearby, you might be out of
luck, except for second-market sources. It is a good
way to get a copy of the Cantina Band Member figure
if you didn't order one of the Star Wars Insider
magazine exclusives (I got mine!)

Also coming out
to the stores this fall will be a cardboard Jabba
Throne Room. I saw this in Previews magazine, so I don't
know if this will be a comic book store only item, or
if regular toy stores will have it. This is similar
to the cardboard catina that was sent out with some
of the Spirit of Obi-Wan Kenobi mail-away figures
(and is now available from Star Wars Insider). Combine
this with the Max Rebo band members, Jabba from the
Jabba & Han pack, the Jabba's Dancers cinema three pack
(out this fall), and the current Star Wars Insider
exclusive, Oola the dancer and Salacious Crumb, and you have
a whole Return of the Jedi diorama! (I have the
same going for the catina diorama, I just wish they
had more catina characters!)

The latest Toy
Fare magazine has details on the newest proposed Star
Wars figures, namely, the young Emperor and Jedi
Leia... if you don't have acces to this magazine, let me
know and I'll post the details!
remember heman and all the other figures you
are talking about. My younger brother still have all
of those in my dads garage! When i was a kid , we had
Johnny West , the Long Ranger & Blackie ! There was Evil
Kanevel, and lets don't forget the the real G.I Joe when he
was more than a few inchs
tall.If only i still
had those! Buzz
hats good to know that i haven't offended u
yet,
next time i see u on the pager, i'f u want to chat
,i'll wait for u to start the conversation .Not trying
to be a smart @$$ ,but thanks for replying.
No
new figures here, not this week anyways!Hope to chat
wiht u soon lounge bunny . And to the other members
how about some input here. Later Buzz
bought i Darth Vader figure today,it is doll
size, the helmet removes to show the black mask. Then you
can remove the mask to see Luke's true father ! Press
the button on his back and he say's random lines from
the movie , the part when,
he is dyeing. Pretty
cool. Later on Buzz
P.S lounge bunny , i have seen
you on the pager and said hello ,but you dont reply,
if i have offended you by adding you to my freinds
list post a message and i will remove you from it,
it's all about making freinds on the net to me . Later
on , Buzz
y brother and I have been collecting and playing
with action figures since He-Man first came out. Now
we have a 55 gallon drum full of action figures,
hordes of battle vehicles, and an infinite amount of
plastic accessories. We also have the Ghostbusters Ecto-1
with a few modifications. Realistic bullet holes, a
spiked bumper, realistic fire damage, and a nifty hood
ornament.

Here are a few figures you may have never seen, or
haven't heard about in years.

The figures from the
Bravestar toy line are pretty neat. They are as poseable as
GI Joes and about 10" tall. The neatest one is
Sandstorm - he spits a watery mist.

I also remeber
Blackstar guys. They all had some special light-up cheat
plate or helmet and a flint wheel on their back to make
them glow. Some of the later designs had a little pen
that held a battery and could be insterted into their
back to make them glow. Thundercats did the same
thing.
agree about the repaints,it's true it is very
annoying. And i only collect for my amusement, there is no way i
could depart from my collection.I don't buy a figure
just because it's popular ,i have to like a figure to
buy it ,let alone search for it .So how many star
wars figures do you have Bunny ? Later Buzz
'm saying that the McFarlane lines, while very
cool figs, are annoying because there are too many
variations. Too many repaints make me uninterested--I don't
know which versions I have and I really don't care.
Same goes with Hellina, Witchblade, Moore
Collectibles, etc. Sorta like comic
variations/crossovers/amalgams/tangents. I have no patience with these
companies. I think
too many variants spoil the fun of collecting and
make it a chore. So with McF et al., I only buy one
female and leave the obsessing to others. But, then, I
collect for myself, not for any future investment.
ey sounds like you have a pretty large
collection,i to like the witchblade figure and Purgatori . But
what exactly are you saying about the spawn
figures?Have you seen the Dark ages spawn figures?I have a
large star wars collection, and collect what usually
catchs my eye.
Later on Buzz
didn't start out collecting action figures, it
just sort of happened because I 1) was nostalgic for
the toys I had when I was young, 2) worked at Sears
when they were liquidating their toy departments, and
3) read comics. I'm not a purist at all (in other
words, I open some of them).

I don't stick with
any particular line--I mostly collect just female
action figures and the female versions known as "dolls"
although they're really just action figures marketed to
girls (i.e. She-Ra/Princess of the Power).

I
probably have more Star Wars (70s & 80s) and X-Men/Marvel
(as annoying than Spawn, I have to agree) than any
other type, but more recently, I have been collecting
the released-only-to-comic-store ones like
Witchblade, Hellina, Purgatori, Mercy, etc. for their humor
value. Pretty much, if it's female and not too hideous,
I will buy it. But I'm not limited to
that.

Anyone know where I can get a 12" Gabrielle? Besides
http://www.anotheruniverse.com, that is.
ell, I'm back, so here's what I collect, in case
y'all are wondering... basically, star wars, star wars,
star wars! I started collecting as a young lad and
restarted this fine hobby when the Trilogy Special Edition
was released. If you've never visited the Hasbro's
Star Wars site, I highly recommend it. It's at
http://starwars.hasbro.com.com

Other than Star Wars, I
collect only some specific
characters out of the X-Men/Marvel and Batman/DC lines. I
collected more Marvel at one time, but the quality of the
figures from Toy Biz have plummeted recently - too many
resculpts and repaints for my liking.

I agree that
the Spawn figures are the most detailed on the
market, by far, but the profusion of waves and variants
keeps me from getting into this line - it's hard enough
to keep up with Star Wars!

The new line I'm
waiting for the most are the "Buffy the Vampire Slayer"
figures from the TV show. Hopefully they'll be a little
more "action" figured - unlike the Babylon 5 figures
that came out this year!
K, not strictly an action figure, but...
I
just got this Small Soldiers toy that's an eyeball in
a watery sack. Called an occula? One of the most
satisfyingly disgusting toys I've found. You squeeze it and it
gurgles and bubbles...Yech.
ey, lets here about some action figures.the middle
earth figures look cool,i
will be looking for them myself! Thanks for the reply NFo.
Later , Buzz
've been collecting since I was a little kid. I
didn't know it then but I'm glad all my old toys are in
near mint condidtion. I currently collect Star Wars
mostly. But I do pickup some hot wheels stuff and
specialty figures like the X-files. I also plan on
collecting the Middle Earth Toys. I agree with you about the
spawn figures. To me every thing they make rocks.
've been collecting action figures for about 2
years , alot of star wars ,just started collecting
spawn figures,i think the spawn Dark Ages figures rocks
, what are your opions ?
Let me know, Buzz
