Many answers are based on $198,000.00 of marriage research completed at the turn of this century. Devoted to encouraging each other, it is not a place for harsh language, put downs, or venting at/on each other--although a moderate amount of venting to each other is inevitable. The nature of advice-giving also means those who ask for advice will sometimes be reminded of self-defeating or response-inhibiting behaviors.
