Greetings all!?
Got this information from Cassandra in the Barony Marche who has been in touch with the man His Highness and I usually contact for tent canvas (Bob Shaver at ITEX).? They can be found on the internet at banwear.com and the number is 800-525-7058.? This is a great deal if you are looking to buy canvas for a tent or dining fly.? $2.69 is not much more than we have paid for "seconds" in the past.
Morgen
If anyone is planning on buying canvas to make a
pavilion this summer, now is the time to call ITEX.
They are having a sale on their Sunforger, Marine
Treated Canvas. $2.69/yd (normally $3.99). Minimum
order is 1 bolt, which is about 100 yds. If anyone
is interested, contact me off-list and I'll give you
the info for the sales rep that deals with the SCA.

Date: Wed, Jun 11, 2008 at 9:57 PM Subject: [AEthelmearc Marshal Group] IMPORTANT: Combat Archery Ruling (Baldar Blunts) To: AEMarshal@yahoogroups.com
To all who receive this ... Please forward to any/all Combat
Archery mailing lists, archers, & Marshals.
After consultation with numerous officers & Society Earl Marshal Hrothgar
... The following ruling is going into effect:
"Effective immediately, due to manufacturing issues, all one-piece Baldar
Blunts are banned from use on the field. These are the style of blunt
that have been made for the last two years, that are all black and from a
single mold. Baldar Blunts made of a two-piece mold are fine.
Marshals, when inspecting Baldar Blunts that are all-black, look for the
circumferential partition line that will exist on two-piece blunts and fail any
that do not exhibit this."
For reference (I will get some better pictures up later), here are some photos
I snagged from the web (Thanks NorthStar):
NOTE: Duke Baldar has graciously offered to replace ALL one-piece mold
blunts with the older two-piece style at his cost. Details of how to
effect said replacement will be posted on his website soon: http://houseasgard.com/BaldarBlunts/
ALSO: Just for your information, Duke Baldar has decided for various
reasons at this point, that other than the replacement batch for the last 2
years worth of blunts, that he will not be making any more Baldar
Blunts. All two-part blunts in service will remain legal in Society
Rules. He is investigating switching over to providing UHMW style blunts
instead in the future.
Again, please forward this email to all CA mailing lists & Marshals to
ensure that everyone knows.
If you have any questions about this ruling, please contact me at this email
address.
In Service,
Lord Siegfried Sebastian Faust - Deputy Society Earl Marshal for Combat Archery

Greetings unto my shire. I come to you with a need for assistance. It has come to my attention that we need retainers for Wills Revenge. I know time is short and plans have been made but there is a need and one person alone cannot accomplish the task. If you are able to fill this need please get in contact with Livia or Myself.
Subject: Re: [abhainn-ciach-ghlais] Lewisburg Arts Festival?
Hi there mi'lady Gabrielle,
We will be in the park right on the river. The whole street gets closed down I believe for the arts festival.
A good number of shire members will be there Friday night around Five PM to set up tents and the like. Then, again Saturday morning from nine AM until four PM. We 'open' at Eleven AM Saturday.
I'll send along my phone number via email to you also just in case you want to call or need more specifics on location.

We are looking for more information on the demo at the Lewisburg Arts Festival. Tim has to take a trip out to Lewisburg anyway and thought he could bring his armor and do some fighting for the demo. (He is even fixing his chain mail so he will look good too!) I couldn't find specifics on the web site, can someone let us know what time and where are things happening?

Just another reminder to those who wish to armor up before the meeting I will be there at noon providing the rain is not falling as predicted. Should Mother Nature bless us with rain, all bets are off. I don't want any turned ankles or the like.
My thanks to all who attended the demo and entertained the wee ones with all we do. It was a pleasure to be there with you.
Wlad I am sorry you cannot be there to take part in the festivities. But yes there will be more Sunday stick fests. I will have them as often as possible weather permitting. I will be there this Sunday upon the noon hour. If you there are any who wish to attend , already there are three to be in armor. More would be even better. See you there!

I would love to fight on Sunday but have committed to overtime at work, which makes it mandatory once you say yes. Are you planning practices ahead of all the shire meetings? If so, I will not make that mistake of committing to overtime on Sunday next month.
Is there any interest in fighting before the shire meeting, weather permitting of course. If there is let me know so I can plan for it and post it loudly on multiple lists.

My dear lords and ladies, I am Lady Tat'iana Kianova, a member of the Barony. You may have met me at a few events with my grandchildren. I am trying to help out the Nuremberg Players (near Hazleton) who are performing "Camelot" on Mother's Day Weekend and the following Fri. and Sat. My son-in-law, is Lancelot. Four of his children are also in the show. The family are SCAdians, who live in Benton. Dad has never been to an event though. The children normally come with me to events and Mom has been to Pennsic. Mom is expecting their 8 child in June. So they are bsuy with many things.
Bad timing has hurt the Players as it is Wills Revenge WE and the Nuremberg Players also lost a few members to another production. Major roles are all taken but they still could use more men or ladies as fighters. So what do we need. Wes, aka Dad, as Lancelot, needs help with armour and fighting. Garb would also be great, exspecially for the children, age 12, a boy who is his squire; girls, 10, 8, and 6. The other daughter is Nimh and she is ok with garb. The Players could also use more fighters and voices and or walk ons also. They will be carrying a (dead) fighter up and down stairs too and wanted advice on what to use. The film uses spears but since they must carry him through the audience and stairs do you have any suggestions. If someone could help with garb and or advice too. I am doing my best but I have never been one to be up on garb believing that if they would have had they would have used it. LOL!
The players are a real nice group of people and have won many awards in NE PA. I want them to succeed with Camelot not just because my family is in it but because it is our time period that we all so dearly love. Can anyone help.

Thank you for the information - we will keep track of your calendar and hopefully will be able to schedule one of our trips out to coincide with an activity so we can say hello. We are in the process of selling our house here in NJ, which is not going as quickly as we hoped. However did purchase a lot in Lewisburg and hope to start building later this summer/fall, and move early next year. So although we are sad to leave our friends here in the East, we are looking forward to getting active with our new home in AEthelmearc!
Gotta ask a question though ... can you spell Abhainn-Ciach- Ghlais phonetically for me? I can't even begin to figure it out, the Dutch and Swiss in us don't spell like that! Friends have asked me what our new local group will be and I don't know what to tell them...

Greetings Gabrielle,
Most of our 'events' seem to take place in the Williamsport area. However, Leweisburg indeed is in our purview. On the 20th, we'll have a shire meeting (in Williamsport) . The 26th will be the Lewisburg Arts Festival, May 9-11 will be Will's Revenge, and much more!
I am also the Deputy Hospitilar for our shire. I'll be happy to talk with you further about upcoming local stuff. Feel free to drop me a note or give me a call.

Greetings everyone; the weather has improved and for the most part things are drying up. Its been a long winter and some of us need a little rust knocked off (and I don't mean just the rust on the armor). the time 6:30 pm, the place is Brandon Park on the Hepburn street side. There you will find me and a few others awaiting your sword arm. Come one come all, bring your armor and sword. Practice will end when no other can stand or night takes over.
The practices rove normally, last year was kinda bad for that but I hold practices in Lewisburg, Williamsport, Hughesville, and anywere else we can find a willing host. This coming Thursday will be at Brandon Park in Williamsport. 6:30 pm Hepburn street side.

If you’d like to check it out, we’ve got a website that you can use to become a little more familiar with our group and keep yourself informed about events that will be going on when you come back to the area. http://www.eg.bucknell.edu/~acg/ We keep it updated regularly and it’s pretty comprehensive. I do believe this was the original ACG list, some have dropped off the face of our little planet others have changed e-mail addresses.Might not hurt to post it in the newa letter that it still lives.

Hi,
Yahoo has made me a moderator so I've removed all the spams, spammers,
and members with bouncing email addresses. Apparently only 10 of us
are left. To keep this group accessible to the public, I've left it
open membership for now. If I can keep it clean, it can stay that way.
In order to keep us from being moderator-less again, I made Egil a
moderator. I'd say more is merrier (and safer) in this case. If you
would also like to be a moderator, please let me know. My only request
is that nobody deletes any actually existing moderators (not that I
expect anyone to).
I've also updated our front page. If this group is a way that
newcomers find us, it should at least be welcoming. Feel free to
improve on it (moderators have access).

Myrkfaelinn will be having a regional armoured
combat muster on Sunday, March 9 at our usual
fight practice location in Risley Hall at Cornell
University. We will be starting at 1pm. The
focus will be (as always :) small unit melee
tactics. There is no site fee. Directions follow:
From the North: take Route 13 (exit 11 on I-81
South): Follow 13 South through the town of
Dryden. Turn right at the traffic light in
Dryden's village center to stay on 13 South (if
road signs start saying “Rt 38” you missed the
turn). A few miles further on, at a traffic
light, Route 366 goes off to the left. (Route 366
comes in from the right a mile or so before this;
don't get confused.) Turn left onto route
366. At a flashing yellow light where 366 peels
off to the left, you will go straight, across the
bridge, and enter Cornell University's campus;
this will be Hoy Road. Turn left at the stop
sign onto Campus Road and then turn right at the
next stop sign onto East Avenue. Just after East
Ave. crosses the gorge bridge, Risley Hall will
be on your left a turreted, red brick building.
From the Southeast: Take I-81 North to NYS Route
79 at Whitney Point. Follow 79 into Ithaca; at
the first traffic light, turn right onto Stewart
Avenue (the street is fashioned with red bricks), and follow from *** below.
From Elmira and points West: Take Route 17 E to
13 N. Route 13 will become one-way halfway
through Ithaca. Once it does so, turn right onto
Buffalo Street (Byrne Dairy will be on the right
corner). Stay on Buffalo Street as it goes
uphill towards a flashing yellow cautionary light
at Stewart Avenue. Turn left here and follow from *** below.
From the Northwest: Leave I-90 at exit 42 to
take Route 96 South (Geneva exit). Carefully
follow the route signs through Geneva. Stay on
Route 96 into Ithaca until it crosses Route 13
North (South Meadow Street). Turn left onto
Route 13, then turn right onto Buffalo Street
(Byrne Dairy will be on the right corner). Stay
on Buffalo Street as it goes uphill towards a
flashing yellow cautionary light at Stewart
Avenue. Turn left here and follow from *** below.
*** Continue on Stewart Avenue across a bridge
until you reach a 4-way stop (this is AFTER the
intersection with two right turns). Turn right
onto University Ave. and proceed up the hill to
the first traffic light. Turn left and cross the
bridge; Risley Hall is the first building on the
left a turreted, red brick building.
