Must apply for membership to assure confidentiality.
This is a group for domestic (DHS & Private) and International Adoptive parents who have children who are struggling with attachment and bonding.
Potential members must apply to join the group due to the sensitive nature of the group. By joining, members agree to respect differences in perceptions, ideas, and feelings of other members. All postings are expected to be respectful and compassionate - many of these parents are hurting already. This is intended to be a safe-haven, as well as a source of information and ideas. The postings are closely monitored.
Having said all that, this is a wonderful place for adoptive parents to give and receive support, ideas, information, and resources to make parenting adopted children easier. Many adopted children have mild to severe difficulty in attaching and bonding to their adoptive parents. This often dashes the dreams of what becoming an adoptive parent was hoped to be. There are more parenting protocols that don't work, than there are do. The parents who are establishing this group have been trained in a protocol that does work - most of the time! Welcome to a safe haven for support! A good sense of humor and a resevoir of hope are the only requirements.
