Wow Darryl - that was fast! It will look really great in the red and white,
should you decide to use those colors. I have finished a pair of Heavy Duty
Flats which will carry a 48' cast concrete pipe, however, I am in need of trucks
- so it will be a while yet before they are "really" finished. The most
difficult part was cutting the 28 triangular gussets for the pair from styrene!

Thanks for the group photo album. Great idea!

Darryl---

I agree with Tom---that was fast! And if I'm "seeing what I'm seeing", it
looks like the wall is built with exposed studs. Correct? I'm also
impressed with the scale size of the window and door mullions, Did you
scratchbuild those?

I'm working on a build of the "Fat Tank" flatcar that's also in Tom's latest
Sketchbook. A big cylindrical welded-steel tank mounted horizontally on a
steel-frame flatcar. I'll use it as a water car in work train use on my
Austin and Northwestern RR (On30). I'm using the neat one-piece frame and
deck casting that's available from Tom for only 10 bucks. This casting
matches the common frame that most of the freight/work/crew cars in the
Sketchbook have. But, like Tom, I'm having to wait on some On30 trucks to
arrive. In the meantime, I'm proceeding with scratchbuilidng the tank part.
With the exception of the cast frame/deck, On30 trucks, and Kadee HO
couplers, this will be a scrounged-up, what-I-have-on-hand build. In the
same spirit as the prototype that Tom based his design on.

Craig,

The studs are there.

I have found I can build up a studded frame very quickly and it leaves lots
of versatility for me in the final weathering.

Plus, there is never a problem with warping when building this way.

For the siding itself, I took a sheet of 1/8th inch scribed siding and using
my Xacto knife, I cut along the grooves as best I could freehand.

I did not use a steel rule to guide the knife.

I learned this trick about 30 years ago in an issue of MR.

I like the way it looks when finished as the gooves are still there and
there is just enough light coming through to make it look like the wood has
shrunk as it dried out.

I will actually back up the siding on the inside with black tar paper so
there isn't much light actually showing through.

The windows are bashed from Grandtline castings.

On the tall vertical window, I made the window opening large enough that the
entire Grandtline casting would fit between the studs.

I then cut and glued the same strips of wood used in the sidings onto the
front of the Grandtline casting and glued the assembly into place.

This gave the great mullions.

The door windows were made by cutting off the top half of a larger Grantline
window casting and gluing it in place and then adding a very thin strip of
wood across the bottom to match the other three outside parts of the
windows.

While I rarely build large buildings in O scale, I do buy some of the very
largest Grandtline window castings such as used in factories.

I can then cut out the mullions from those castings and use them to
scratchbuild windows when needed.

As it was, the Grandtline castings I had worked fine with just a little
modification.

I look forward to seeing your tank car.

I had noticed Tom had the frames available which should make it a lot easier
to have a standardized frame.

That's a clever idea and very nicely done. The checkerboard painted tile

Good morning,

Branline Sales have a new Yorke kit available for shippment. The Dr. Phineus T.
Skamm Bottling Co. is a very unique kit with lots of the Yorke character. The
kit includes the two vats for production and bottling of the elixir. The story
is he won the building in a poker game and then decided to bottle his product.

I have several of these kits in stock. They are all numbered and signed by Tom.
This kit is limited to only 20 kits so they will not last long. Check out the
pictures in the folder 'Future Release' or better yet go to my website:
www.e-model-railroading.com.

I accept paypal, money orders or your check. If you have any questions or
problems, you may reach me at 402-992-2415.

Oh, watch for the soon to be released The Old Store at Head's Mill. Also check
out the other kits I have on the website all for immeadiate shippment. Some of
them are being sold for the first time.

Thanks for your time,

Unless I'm missing something, your website doesn't have a link that has
price info on the Bottling Co. For The Old Store, yes---but not for the
Bottling Co. Inquiring minds want to know...

BTW, everyone else: I've seen a kit for the TY designed and mastered Kent

You website sure does not make finding pictures of the kit very easy.
How about a link?
I did a search and the engine couldn't find the kit but listed it in "you my be
interested in these other items" but all there was is "add to cart" and a small
thumbnail.
You might do better if the site was more user friendly.

Craig,
My inventory is limited so I had the website inventory set pretty low so
I wasn't selling something I didn't have. I have reloaded the inventory
so it should work unless some one jumps in.

If you have any problems, just call me or email me and I can directly
just invoice you one in Paypal. no problem

Doug,

I wanted to let you know I sold the last Skamn bottling I had in stock.
I will be getting the balance of the kits late next week. I will have 8
more kits.

If you want to be on the list, send me an email and I will invoice you
on paypal when I have them in hand and can ship.

I can have them show up on the feature first page but if I show no
inventory there is no link to purchase. They are both that way right now
until I go back in and post new inventory.

Again thank you for your interest,

Dennis

Tom,

Do you plan to release all (or any) of the Frijole Flats structures in
HO?  Thanks very much.

Barry,
That is a good question. As of right now I do not know. I still have a lot to do
on the rest of the O scale line, but the economy is such that right now, most
projects are on hold. It is a definite possibility though at some point.

Big Tom,

I will keep my fingers crossed.  I model the Chili Line as well as Alamosa and
Chama.  Your stuff would be absolutely perfect!

Thanks,

good morning,
I have the latest kit in stock and available on the website.

The Old Store at Head's Mill is a 1" flat with a porch and other extras. This
kit is very adaptable. You can change the appearance by chaning the order of the
pieces. You could easily extend the back with styrene or wood to make a full
size structure. How you age it will determine not only its condition but useage
and so forth.

Take a look www.e-model-railroading.com Addition pictures can be found in the
photo section in future releases.

If you have any questions, please contact me. Like the first in the series this
kit is limited to 20 numbered kits.

I should have the last run of the Doctors bottling company in about a week.
Watch for the final release of this kit.

Thanks for your interest,
Dennis

Dennis - It would be most helpful to me if your post would include the scale or
scales of the kits you are introducing. Thanks.
