Hi,

- Your address won't change; the Beta process is simply a different
way of navigating your email.

- The new Mail Beta also offers a new way of navigating and editing
your Yahoo address book. A new method of doing the same to your Yahoo
Calendar and Notepad is probably in the pipeline too.

- The only downside would be if you were using a dialup modem to
access the site, rather than broadband - the interface would be a lot
slower in that case. If you have broadband, this won't be a problem.

I hope this helps!

Cheers,
Kenny

Perhaps they should update it more

Double check your delivery settings for the group.

Make sure you're set up for normal delivery (as opposed to digest delivery or

That should be the only visible change for you.

> -Are there any disadvaantages to this

Depends on how you look at it. Since you get builds earlier, it does mean that
they haven't necessarily gone through a full soak with the users yet. So if we
have any new bugs, you'll be more likely to experience them. On the other hand,
when we have new features and new fixes, you'll be among the first to experience
those.

Alright, I've finally got the details on the new migration procedure so I'll
probably start those this weekend. Appologies to those who have been waiting for
a week or more to get moved to farm 308. There's no need to tell me again, I
still have all of the messages that were sent to me.

As soon as I'm done migrating your account, I'll send you email letting you

I have chat on my account and it is working great now. My wife, who is on a
different farm but has the same version, build and date as I do, is not. Since
she has the same version, build and date of Yahoo Mail Beta, should she be able
to access chat? At this point, she does not but I am uncertain if that is
because it simply hasn't gotten to her yet or if there is a problem. So, I guess
part of my question is whether chat is rolled out by the update to the current
version, build and date of Yahoo Mail Beta or something else? Thanks.

As far as I know, the chat feature is only on farms 318 & 308 for now.
There's a new build coming which fixes a compatibility issue with Linux,

I allow beta to automatically add new contacts that I send email. 99%

like the one I just sent to a business that I will never interact with
again. It appears my option is to
a) leave the first/last name blank, which adds a nameless contact
b) Give this business a first or last name and actually add a contact
I will never use again, or
c) Uncheck the "never add contacts automatically" again and do it by
hand, basically lose 99% good for 1% bad.

How am I supposed to use this feature, or can we get a button that
allows us to say "don't add this contact"?

This may be an old issue that was discussed a while back which I think needs to
be surfaced again... when there is a email address in the body of an email that
you which to use and compse an email too, when you click on it Yahoo decided to
launch a new beta mail instead of just a compose tab for you.... this I believe
is a a major error in programing. Ryan is this an issue that they are aware of?
And it's really annoying when its a yahoogroup post and you want to copy/paste
however you can't within the email because it's somehow forbidden

You won't lose any files whatsoever, and you can switch back to your
existing "classic view" of Yahoo Mail at any time from the link at the
top of the Beta page next to "Sign Out" and "My Account". As MS might

I have mine set up so that I choose whether to add the contact to my address
book or not, you can uncheck the box so it won't be auto added, or it may be in
your mail options to disable it, I dont remember, it has been a while. I had to
stop it because the way our contact list is set up its cumbersome to clean it,
unless I switch back to classic and clean through it, it's quicker that way.

But honesltly, I'm not sure what Yahoo could do. Other than having a box that

You have to wait for your farm to be updated to the latest build, then
you'll have the chat feature. You can't enable it yourself. A new build
is coming, but I don't know when. There are a couple of issues being
worked on with the new build, & once it is approved for wide release,
other farms will be updated. New builds are first tested on farm 318,
then once it's deemed stable, it goes to farm 308. It takes around 2
months(maybe more) for all farms to be updated. It sux to wait, I
know.... I have the chat feature(I'm on farm 308), but it's not
compatible with Linux. The new build that's coming fixes the problem,
but until then I can't use it. You'll get it eventually, it just takes time.
