How can I turn off the news widget that always appears first whenever I view my
Yahoo Mail? I have news on My Yahoo home page, I don't need to see it again on
my Yahoo mail page.

I've just recently gotten back to my computer and have done a few searches. It looks to me like in this new version of Mail, the search feature has been repaired and is coming up with the results I expect to see. Have others found this to be true? It's fantastic!

Another problem with the new version:

Categories of contacts are no longer listed with the individual contacts. In order to look at the list of contacts in an individual Category, I seem to have to find one of the names, open their record, pretend to want to change their Category list, and then click on the Category. I liked the old way, with the list of Groups (Categories) that followed the list of Contacts, so that I could view them all and click directly on one.

I know it's a work in progress, but I have noticed that:

(1) Sometimes when I use the tab button to "approve" an auto-fill option from the Contact list, the tab not only causes the address to be inserted, but then moves the cursor to the next field. I think this is already a known issue, because it seems to go back and forth.

(2) I prefer to sort my inbox and folders from old (top) to new (bottom), but the up and down arrows don't match this order. They used to.

(3) The only application I use is the Notepad. Since I have a lot of folders, I've chosen to Hide the applications, but I'd love to move the Notepad up where it used to be, near the Contacts.

(4) Is there a way to Hide the stationary and Liam business? I do love that I can Hide the applications!

Thanks!

PS I should have added:

One reason I would need to do that is that I want to know who is in that Category before I use it in the distribution list. In the very old days, I could type in the name of the group, and once I left the To/CC/Bcc field in which I inserted it, all the names would instantly display, allowing me to delete one if needed. That was the best, but at least I need to be able to remind myself who's in the Category sometimes before I use it.

Thanks again!

When I first joined the Y-Mail group, we had an opportunity to beta test the new version of Yahoo Mail that was being designed to replace the classic mail format. There were some Yahoo product developers who were members and used our comments to tweak the product.

You tell me that that's not your job per se, although you can take comments to the product team. I'm wondering if there's anyone (like the two Ryans) we should direct comments to, or who might be interested in joining the group to start a dialog?

For instance, I've just noticed that when forwarding a message that has an .eml attachment, the button to remove that attachment isn't working, so it's not possible to eliminate any of the content of that .eml (including other addresses the email was previously sent to). This is pretty important, to preserve privacy and limit the possibility of phishing down the road.

Is Y-Mail still the group to report that to, or should we just report it to you, or to Yahoo Help etc.?

Mario, I see your point. Personally, my email is largely for work orientated purposes, and I would like apps that help me to carry that out. The current emphasis is mainly on very social things like organising parties, events, sharing photos, etc... I have nothing against that, and some of that is quite good, but a few more apps like office applications, news feeders, calculators, specialised search engines (e.g. news stories, pubmed, etc...) and so forth. A return of the RSS feeder would also help. I remember at the time it was removed because it was taking up too much memory / loading time - fair enough, but now apps seem to open up separately in tabs (or not at all if you don't want them), so it could make a very welcome return.

I've got another attachment bug. I've reported it to Yahoo who wanted to get into my account to check things out, but I'm sure that's not where the issue is. I thought posting it on here would be more helpful to see if anyone else has this issue.

I'm using the latest build of YMail. On my home computer, I use Firefox and I have the latest version of Flash with Browser plus installed, and this doesn't happen. However,
at work, using internet explorer 6 with old version of flash (6 or 7) and no browser plus installed, I can't forward attachments. The body of the text forwards as normal, but the attachments are not automatically attached in the forwarded message. This is very disruptive. Is the problem with the fact that the new attachment feature needs either flash and/or Browserplus?

Hi all,

I looked around in the help files and didn't find what I was looking for, so I
thought I'd ask you.

Does Yahoo (Mail) have any hard and fast rule about cross-posting?

I ask this because there is someone who is dumping 19 email group addresses into
a composed email and then sending it out. While there hasn't been a flurry of
emails from this person, there have been three in the last ten days.

Unfortunately for me, I'm in three of those groups so I get three identical
postings.

Thanks

I am able to get the "classic" Yahoo home page to appear on my Safari browser on

special "mobile version" of Yahoo mail when I click on the mail button on the
home page. How can I force the browser on my iphone to load up the "classic"
mail page and not the mobile version?

One of the reasons I do not like the mobile version is that the mail search
function does not seem to work properly. It only returns the first 2 pages of
results when there should be much more. Does anyone else have this problem and
how can it be solved?

Thanks,

If there is such a rule, I'm in trouble. I've been doing that for years - I post lost and found pets on neighborhood listservs.

Sometimes all I know is the name of the very long street where the pet was found, so I post the information to every listserv along that street - often it's six groups, eight or even ten groups.

The only restriction I know of is that you can't send the same message to more than one Yahoo group-owner on the same day.

Sorry for so many posts, but I hate to mix messages.

Is anyone else having trouble getting into attachments?

It's happening all over. I'm on a few Yahoo Group groups, and it's being discussed, although nobody from Yahoo has offered help yet. You can try backspacing, that's all that's been suggested.

I've been having trouble logging in here, to approve messages. I keep
getting prompted for my password. Anyone know what's going on?

No but I had the same issue on groups I own and moderate for several days.  I contacted Yahoo groups tech team.  It's as well to take screenshots when you see that you are recognised as signed in, in the top left of the page and you are being offered the option to JOIN a group you already own!!!

I also changed my personal settings on some groups this week and had to sign in again after practically every one.  Something is definitely going wrong with groups (something new, that is, as well as all the existing issues)

Here's the link for tech support for group mailing issues for group members (any group) http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/groups/original/members/forms/general.html;_ylt=Avkn_6Ea6B6snBY3mTNQpT0ACXdG?from_url=http%3A%2F%2Fhelp.yahoo.com%2Fl%2Fus%2Fyahoo%2Fgroups%2Foriginal%2Fmembers%2Findex.html

and for moderators/owners

Hi Robin.......you're right...when you click on....Contacts....all your contacts appear alphabetically....but....if you look just above you will see...."View All Contacts"....with a drop down arrow....Hit It....and you will see all your Contact Categories listed....just click on whichever one you want and it will open up....it's pretty much the same as before....but instead of being able to select a....Default Category....to open to as we could in the back Address Book Days.....now it takes two more clicks.......Yahoo considers this....."Progress"....

Subject: Notes on the new Yahoo Mail

Thanks!

When I go to mail.yahoo.com and log myself into my email account to read email I
would click on the email to read it. When I do this I get an error message
saying service temporarily unavailable. Why is this? I have had this problem
for sometime now. I am using my Blackberry HTML browser to do thus. What is the
problem and how do I fix it.

Hello,

I just switched over to the new Yahoo mail, getting rid of Outlook. Is there any
way to save my font color preferences, etc for my emails instead of having to
change them every time? Thanks.

No.
The best way of "emailing" is doing pure text. Highlight it only when it is necessary. Bold for bold, italic for italic and no more firulas please! Let's keep the electronic mail what it was supposed to be.

Well isn't that silly! So counter-intuitive, I can't imagine how you even found it!

Thanks Bill, another one for my list, but at least I can find them now.
