... no, you do not need a new mailing addy. But I would recommend changing the subject title (Re:) so that it matches what you are trying to discuss (declare). Because others on Wittrs will only see your subject header when they receive a daily digest of this list.

The compatibility of Wittgenstein "meaning and use" and his "picture theory"
 
On the premise that language is a social product and a construct of the mind it leaves the question open thats words can denote as in a "picture theory" of meaning. Wittgensteins "meaning is use" is said to conflict with his "picture theory". On the premise that language is a social product of the mind "picture theory" is not bounded in away where it has to be in conflict with "meaning is use" unless of a blunt contradiction. Where as the rules of language are only subject to the three laws of thought, either theory can be reconstructed to be compatible with each other. I do not think this is necessary in Wittgensteins case e.g. I can use language to either denote or represent the world in such away as Wittgensteins "picture theory".
