We leave the shiny, whiney single decker to head off and carry more prams and buggies through Leasowe whilst we enter the TARDIScrow and head back to 1970.
Forty years ago, the subject of the photo would have been crossing the Mersey daily from Seacombe/New Brighton to Pier Head and by the end of 1969 would have been removed on the formation of the Merseyside PTE.
It is one of the Wallasey coat of arms that was proudly carried by MV Royal Daffodil of 1958 on either side of her funnel. MV Royal Iris (1950) had one on the front of her superstructure.
There had been reports of it being in St Hilary's church, Wallasey Village, but the church had always been closed when I went there but today was the national Heritage Open Days and the mission was a success.
I also had a go on the bells and went up the tower of the church to get some photos over Wallasey. CROW WAS WATCHING!
And one final surprise was the fact that the background colour was the same as the buses. Sea Green. Never seen a colour photo of the Daffodil.
Enjoy some municipal pride for a change.
