What would the world be
once bereft of wet and wildness?
Let them be left, O let them be left.
Wildness and wet,
long live the wilds and wilderness yet.
Gerard Manley Hopkins
(In the wall of the Scottish Parliament)
The Wilderness Network of the Mountains provides for gay men to enjoy nature centered outdoor activities with other gay men. Outings include day trips to scenic areas in the southern Appalachian mountains, weekend trips around the Southeast, and longer expeditions further away. We occasionally meet for a picnic/potluck or organizational meetings. The pleasure and satisfaction we get from WNM derives from the creativity and energy of our membership.
Got a favorite hike, bike ride, floating trip, other outdoor adventure, or a camping spot you would like to share with other gay guys in our area? Try posting a trip or trip suggestion! Make your trip proposal specific enough (what it is, date and time range, place, carpooling place and time, etc.) and we will and distribute it to our membership and post it on the calendar. We have message moderators to review and edit the postings.
Not every post (especially spam) will go out to our over-400 members before you are contacted and the post is edited to include necessary details. At times, a trip leader may inquire about general interest in a particular activity before selecting a particular date. We recommend that these postings give sufficient details (like proposed dates, costs, etc) so that potential participants can be as informed as possible. As soon as you confirm the details and dates, we'll post it on the calendar for you.
