This group is for people who are researching their roots in the area of Lancashire, which was once known as the South Lancashire Coalfield.
This area includes a number of towns, such as Wigan, which was itself made up of several communities, including Pemberton, Ince, Hindley, Bickershaw and more.
Other towns which were established in the coalfield area include Leigh, Ashton-in-Makerfield, Ormskirk, Skelmersdale, Standish & so on.
