Description
Welcome to the Wheeler Class message board. Please use this forum to exchange your ideas, tips and tricks for building, sailing and racing the Wheeler model yacht.
The Wheeler is a radio-controlled version of the famous Maxi Ocean Racer it is a high performance replica and, in the words of Gordon Stout, who has won national championships in several AMYA classes, "is as close to sailing a real boat as you can get with a model sailboat." The Wheeler is a big boat, with an overall length of 79", a waterline length of 63", a beam of 15", and design displacement of 30 pounds. The Wheeler carries 2,000 sq in of sail, which allows it to plane when the winds are up.
The American Model Yachting Association has designated the Wheeler as a "One Design Class" radio controlled racing sailboat. The Wheeler has a growing number of registered boats within the AMYA racing class system.
The Wheeler is produced by George Riberio Products/Miniature Marine and can be reached at the following link
