Good evening all,

I'd like to have a get together for those living in the Northeast Ohio area.
Just a
brainstorming kinda thing to kick around some Free-Mo ideas.

Does anyone have an objection to Streetsboro for a location? Trying to pick a
location that's
"close" to Summit, Portage, Geauga, and Cuyahoga counties.

Would sometime after work (and dinner) be better than trying to shoehorn some
weekend time into
your current plans?

Looking forward to your responses!

Hi Group,

I'm all for this - My availability excludes Monday and Tuesday evenings due to
Civic committments. Other than that, I'm flexible, like Gumby. See you all soon!

May I suggest Eat-N-Park in Streetsboro. It offers easy access to multiple major
roads and is pretty well centered between Akron, Cleveland and Youngstown.
Someone pick a day and time.

Send info for meeting. I am  "a rookie" with this. I have had layouts (HO,N)
years ago. Renewed interest and I am starting a 3 by 5 N scale as well an HO
shelf layout  , I am currently looking at various shelf layouts (MR mags.
internet). 8 ft. length 1ft 6 inches width.As well as 3 by 5 n scale plans.

Begin quote from Dennis Snyder:
"John Beach, retired freight agent, will be leading our tour of the W&LE/N.K.P.
Canton Ohio sites on Saturday, June 13th at 10AM. We will start at the old yard
office area at Fourth St. and Madison Ave. in Canton, OH.

To get there via I-77, go east on US 30 and exit at Cherry Ave. Go north on
Cherry to Eleventh St. SE. Turn right on Eleventh, then go to Madison Ave
(Second traffic light). Turn right onto Madison Ave. and go to the traffic light
at Fourth St. Park somewhere near the abandoned brown concrete building (old
yard office) and look for the smiling faces.

If you're coming in from the east, the westbound traffic lane will exit onto
Eleventh St. SE. Turn right and go to Madison Ave. At the traffic light, turn
left onto Madison Ave. then go to the traffic light at Fourth St.
Dennis Snyder"

Here's a link to the location if you like maps better:

Hope to see some of you folks in Canton!!

Wow. This sounds very cool. I am interested and look forward to more detail on
this meet.

As an update, I moved to Chagrin Falls over the last coupla days (Bainbridge Twp
if yer picky). Many boxes are unpacked and the place is looking respectable.
Many hobby items are still at the West Virginia home, so at least two more trips
are needed to complete the move. Still much to do before I can start building
Free-Mo modules, but at least the mitre-saw is here.

retired freight agent of the area. There is a lot of history there, and some
interesting operations around the once narrow gauge railroad, it's sure to be
another date you'll want to circle on your calendars. We're looking at June for
this event, August for our annual meeting (feast), and November for a fall tour
at an undetermined place. Stay tuned for further details.

I don't know if anyone else is interested in this type of outing, however, I
will be going.

John Beach has a depth of knowledge about the Canton operations of the original
W&LE and post merger NKP railroads. I was able to sit and pester John with
questions last fall for over an hour. Thank you, John!

If you're interested in further updates on this outing, please let me know,
OK?

Hey Tim, Do we have any specific dates in June, for the session with the Iron
Cross. In Canton. Jason and I are on board but need to narrow down a date and
time. Having kids and and such you know. Let us know as more information arises.
Thanks NKPman.Aka Greg Shadle

And it was worth the drive, the layout was Awesome. Tim and the Gang did a great
job. 6 States were in attendance there. I believe the length was 2 linear miles
a lot of switching as well as mainline run. The other vendors were numerous.
Model Railroader, Digitrax, Woodland Scenics, Lionel, and a host of others too
numerous to say. Plus I just wanna mention the fact that Tim, James, and many
others really pulled off a great show. My thanks go out to them. I would do it
again.

Eric,

I'd say that the group had fun and is looking forward to the next event.
We, as a group, put a large Free-Mo layout "in front" of more than
20,000 people over the 2 day event time and ran trains, too!
What more could you ask for? <Big Grin>

Looking forward to seeing you in person after the "big move"! Hope it
all goes smoothly!!

Regards from neighboring Akron, OH
