This site is a place for Wendell United Methodist Church's Food Pantry task force and volunteers to share information and use the online calendar feature to sign up for shifts to cover the pantry's hours of operation.

The food pantry ministry was created in response to our 2005 Vision Sunday challenge. As members of the "Feed the Hungry" group from that evening, those of us with an interest in establishing an emergency food pantry at our church started meeting, researching, and organizing one. Our first official day of operation was November 22, 2005. In the fall of 2006 we became a partner agency of the Food Bank of Central & Eastern NC.

Our pantry's hours are Tuesdays from 5-7 PM, Thursdays from 9-10:30 AM, and the last Saturday of each month from 10AM-noon. We provide a 3-day emergency food assistance to households in Wendell and Zebulon, NC and to families referred to us by the Social Services office at the Eastern Regional Center (ERC)in Zebulon, regardless of where they live. Social workers at the ERC have a special referral form specifically for our pantry which non-Wendell residents should bring with them. Pantry visits are limited to once every 30 days.

We can always use more volunteers! As our volunteer base grows, we will be able to increase the hours we have our doors open to help those in need of food assistance.
