The story under discussion is The Norwood Builder (NORW). First published in Collier’s Weekly, Oct. 1903, with 7 illustrations by Frederic Dorr Steele, and in the Strand Magazine, Nov. 1903, with 7 illustrations by Sidney Paget. The upper illustration is by F. Dorr Steele, and was the cover for Collier's, Oct. 1903. The lower one is by Sidney Paget, from the Strand Magazine, Nov. 1903. The Paget illustration has this caption: “MY FIRST MOVEMENT, WATSON,” SAID HE, “MUST BE IN THE DIRECTION OF BLACKHEATH.”
