The questions remain. The possibility of moving freight on the WR has been explored several times before over the last 20 years. I remember some 1990s scheme to move coal from a proposed open-cast mining site south of Crook. Nothing ever materialised - so what has changed now?. Gerry writes "... the opportunities are real... ". Are you certain of that?.

 

That apart, what happens if these freight opportunities fail to materialise?.
