This group is for supporters of the attempts to reconnect and reopen the railway line from Bishop Auckland to Stanhope or Eastgate and hopefully, beyond, to the original terminus.
The aim of this group is to provide a forum for the discussion of any matters relevant to the Weardale Railway, past, present and future. This group, formed at a dark time when the Big White Chiefs could and arguably should, have used the extra help and publicity, will remain open for support and comment until timetabled services return to Weardale.
All contributions are welcome but views expressed are those of the individual contributors and cannot be taken as the official standpoint of the Weardale Railway Trust, Weardale Railways Ltd. or any successors or factions therein.
The official (always months out of date) website of the Weardale Railway Trust was but wasn't but maybe is again while maybe is no longer unless or until.......... watch this space ....... : www.weardale-railway.org.uk
The official webmaster of the Weardale Railway Trust is or might still be the webmaster of the weardale-railway.org.uk site but the site was/is/wasn't/is/maybe/could be currently the official website of the Weardale Railway Trust. Simple, isn't it?
The new developments with BARS look promising and hopefully, the BWCs will be put back into their proper places and the railway can be run by competent people. On a personal note, I can only hope that sanity and success now prevails!
