The membership of this list is comprised primarily of professionals working in the restoration of timepieces, either clocks or watches. The PUBLIC IS INVITED TO SEND questions to the moderator who will forward those questions on to the group for their consideration. Such questions may include advice about restoration or maintanence, finding a qualified professional they can work with, or technical questions about a specific timepiece. IF a group member decides they can be of assistance , they will answer privately.
This list is intended to serve the needs of the working professional. In particular, this group is intended to promote the "swapping" of parts, sharing of technical information and techniques and the identification of trends. It is NOT a venue for neophyte to "learn the trade". While some talented amateurs may be admitted to the group, it is fully expected that those applying for membership will possess the skills and experience required to restore a range of timepieces.
Along with providing a technical resource to the members and the public, this list will provide a forum for members to discuss the the topics that are of interest to them. Watchmakers and clockmakers have a tradition as free thinkers and this will NOT be discouraged.
There are two ways to join this group. You may send a request to the moderator with a brief statement of your qualifications. Or, prospective members can be identified by existing members.
