This is a discussion and support list for parents who wish to unschool but have found unschooling as a total lifestyle is not for them.
We know that learning environments vary from one household to the next, and we embrace and respect this fact. Feel free to discuss ANY unschooling methods here. You will not be judged for your opinions.
If you are interested in sharing stories and ideas, or asking questions, or supporting others who are unschoolers on their own terms, please feel free to join up.
Had other people tell you that you're not an unschooler because "...."? We don't do that here. While our website expresses a certain viewpoint, we believe that there are as many shades/types of unschooling as there are parents who do it. So we welcome everyone with open arms, as long as you remember to be courteous and open-minded with your fellow list'ers.
Discussions and questions are encouraged, but keep in mind we are not a "how-to" list, we are a discussion, support and community group. All views are welcome, and nobody's opinions are wrong.
We believe that unschooling is a method of homeschooling where parents allow their children to learn what they feel drawn to, at their own pace, when they need to. Children are born naturally curious and will learn on their own, if only they are given the freedom to do so. Trying to tell them what to learn and when stifles their natural creativity and curiosity.
"Just as eating against one's will is injurious to health, so study without a liking for it spoils the memory, and it retains nothing it takes in." -Leonardo da Vinci
