Welcome to the mailing list for the Wakefield Anarchists Group or W.A.G. as we are affectionately known. We are an informal umbrella group of working-class activists in and around the Wakefield area (West Yorkshire, UK) coming from an anarchist-communist perspective. Formed in the run up to the Mayday 2001 demonstrations in London we are small in numbers but do have members from Class War, the Anarchist Federation, the rank and file union Industrial Workers of the World (the IWW) and others with no federal or union affiliation.

This list was originally set up for the members of the group who have net access but everyone is encouraged to join the list, get involved with us in the class struggle for working-class emancipation and help build a libertarian future, hopefully having as much fun as possible in the process.

We know there is a lot of crap talked about anarchism and so we don't mind answering questions about what exactly it is or what we do and hopefully helping to dispel some of the myths that have grown up about it and us (we are NOT mad, bomb throwing nutters, just angry working class people) but we suggest that for a more in depth explanation of anarchist ideas and methods people should check out the FAQ sheet at: www.anarchistfaq.org
