Daniel has been lobbying for nominations and I sent him an excel spreadsheet with all the 2009 members on it.   I was thinking that he would print up the voting slips in a similar fashion that Oh Bee One did in the past.

The Elections of new board members will happen during the December 5th meeting.  All the officers and board position 2 and 4 are up in the election.

Hello Frank and All

The WWARA back log right now is in the hands of the secretary.  I've been talking to Scott about this recently.  Earlier this year I was laid off and then have changed jobs and schedules.  While I am pleased to be gainfully employed right now, my schedule has changed such that I've had much less time than I used to.   

I don't remember if the secretary is a two-year term; if so then I would consider resigning at the end of 2009 if another person has more free time to devote to this work than I do currently.

There is a stack of WWARA stuff at my house that needs processed.  Much of it is renewals that need to be done and new certificates to be printed. 

What really dismays me is the sheer amount of labor involved.  The new server-based database system is nice for some because you can view the database and update online.  However the older Microsoft Access database system was MUCH easier for the secretary to use efficiently.  For the WWARA and any future secretary to handle this efficiently the server-based web database needs some serious attention.  It's my opinion that the attention needed to make a really nice, usable system will cost money if we ever want to see it completed.  Tim has done a wonderful job taking what we had and basically duplicating it, but we need to take this to the next level. 

What I would really like to do before the end of the year is assemble the band chairs and some helpers and take a team approach to the labor.

The ARRL directory data is due mid-January so we have a little bit of time to iron this out and get some fresh data published for 2010. 

My weekends from now to December 5 are pretty much shot so we could find a time and location to meet on a week night for several hours, or we will have to delay this until mid December. 

Alternatively we could agree to a work session following the December 5 meeting since we should all be together anyway.

I have new TDS's almost ready to go, I am trying to make the PDF's dynamic forms that can be filled out in Acrobat.  The new TDS has the new address as well as the changes we discussed in June.

This started with APRS folks several years ago, and still has a good APRS base, but has expanded into many other digital modes.  It is a great place to encounter expertise for your configuration challenges or just a bunch of friendly hams in a beautiful setting.  You can commute in and out, but tent/RV camping or using the bunkhouses avails you of much of pleasure of the weekend.  There has historically been test equipment to help adjust your setup for optimal performance.

Hello WWARA Board

Our web site says the next meeting is September 5 2009 which is 10 days away.

This is the Saturday inside of the Labor Day weekend. I have no particular plans but wanted to make sure the rest of the board was planning on attending. I know many people have family plans over Labor Day weekend.

Are we all set to have a meeting September 5 at Mercer Island?

Labor Day weekend is probably not a good time to have a meeting unless we purposely want to limit the attendance.

All of these polls have 7 votes approve, no votes reject.  I will close the
polls today and begin the 14-day member comment period tomorrow.
