Daniel has been lobbying for nominations and I sent him an excel spreadsheet with all the 2009 members on it. I was thinking that he would print up the voting slips in a similar fashion that Oh Bee One did in the past.
Just two more days until the meeting and elections. Get your reports ready. Does anyone have any agenda items? Are there any nominations?
I wanted to state that I am willing to serve another term. I had hoped to be more active and accomplish more. I am also perfectly willing to step aside and render assistance to anyone who would like to step up.

The WWARA back log right now is in the hands of the secretary. I've been talking to Scott about this recently. Earlier this year I was laid off and then have changed jobs and schedules. While I am pleased to be gainfully employed right now, my schedule has changed such that I've had much less time than I used to.
I don't remember if the secretary is a two-year term; if so then I would consider resigning at the end of 2009 if another person has more free time to devote to this work than I do currently.
There is a stack of WWARA stuff at my house that needs processed. Much of it is renewals that need to be done and new certificates to be printed.
What really dismays me is the sheer amount of labor involved. The new server-based database system is nice for some because you can view the database and update online. However the older Microsoft Access database system was MUCH easier for the secretary to use efficiently. For the WWARA and any future secretary to handle this efficiently the server-based web database needs some serious attention. It's my opinion that the attention needed to make a really nice, usable system will cost money if we ever want to see it completed. Tim has done a wonderful job taking what we had and basically duplicating it, but we need to take this to the next level.
What I would really like to do before the end of the year is assemble the band chairs and some helpers and take a team approach to the labor.
The ARRL directory data is due mid-January so we have a little bit of time to iron this out and get some fresh data published for 2010.
My weekends from now to December 5 are pretty much shot so we could find a time and location to meet on a week night for several hours, or we will have to delay this until mid December.
Alternatively we could agree to a work session following the December 5 meeting since we should all be together anyway.
Thanks
Mark Hagler KK7U Secretary

Hi, Peter you are correct on the date. I think we have other problems also. There has been no notification of board action after June 27 to the members remailer. The members must be given a 14 day comment period on all new coordination' s.
Subject: [WWARA] Meeting December 5 with elections??
According to my calendar there is a WWARA meeting 3 weeks from this coming Saturday. Is that correct? If so, there will be elections of officers and board members held at that meeting.
Do we know whose board term expires this year, who wants to be re-elected, and/or who wants to join the board?
Does the lack of communication between us and with our members indicate that we are all caught up on requests for coordination? (I don't think so.)
So anyway... This remailer sure has been awfully quiet for a long time now. Is there anyone home reading email who has answers to the above questions and/or just wants to get things stirred up a bit?

Speaking as Board Member #3, elected last year, it must be Board Members 2 & 4 up this year...

The Summer Gathering of Digital Amateur Radio enthusiasts will happen at the Valley Camp near North Bend on the weekend of September 12, 2009. Check these websites for more info: http://www.kg7hq.wetnet.net/node/107 http://www.nwaprs.info/
This started with APRS folks several years ago, and still has a good APRS base, but has expanded into many other digital modes. It is a great place to encounter expertise for your configuration challenges or just a bunch of friendly hams in a beautiful setting. You can commute in and out, but tent/RV camping or using the bunkhouses avails you of much of pleasure of the weekend. There has historically been test equipment to help adjust your setup for optimal performance.
I've intentionally left the Pacific Northwest VHF Society and Northwest Automatic Position Reporting System Special Interest Group Yahoo/Google signatures appended below Thom's announcement so folks can check out those resources. The message itself is found on the WETNET "Washington Experimenter TCP/IP NETwork" site. WETNET is a group of hams from the Pacific Northwest who have been building and experimenting with radio and computers for over 25 years.
Have a great time at the Gathering! Just Email Thom, K7FZO to let him know you're joining the fun.

September 12th is the day of the 'Gathering', and for those that would like to enjoy the extended event happenings we start actually gathering Friday and drag things on until Sunday afternoon with some coming Thursday and leaving Monday.
As the host of this event all I ask is for you to email me if you plan on staying overnight in your RV, or need space in the lodge, so we can supply accommodations for everyone. We have more than enough room for tents so pack it in your rig and just drop in.
The program is looking full for Saturday, the topics Doug - K7IP has scheduled look very interesting. Hopefully you've all seen the schedule and at least plan on dropping in for the day. (8AM - 6PM)
I hope to see many of you in a few weeks.

Labor Day weekend is probably not a good time to have a meeting unless we purposely want to limit the attendance.

The WWARA corporation situation is fixed now. After a corporation is administratively dissolved it must be fixed with a 'reinstatement' that means extra fees, and not just a renewal. The paperwork Scott submitted has been rejected and returned because it was sent as a renewal and not a re-instatement.
I filed for a 'reinstatement' with the Secretary of State and paid the necessary fees for a total of $65. As of today the WWARA is an Active corporation in the State of WA again. It was re-instated which means we still have the same UBI number and the incorporation date still shows at 3/21/1977.
I've got a bunch of checks and payments ready to go so I'll ship those over to Roger and get things rolling again.

A new PO box has been obtained for the WWARA at the Wallingford post office in Seattle. I have two keys and could provide one key to another board member as a backup. Also it would be nice if another board member goes to the post office with me some day and signs on to the account.
I'm sending a test envelope to the new box to make sure it gets received, and then I will update the TDS form as discussed at our last meeting and put the new address out for business.
