The Group's primary focus is Greece and the Greek Military in World War II. However it also covers all aspects of the Greek Military throughout the Twentieth Century.
It is also here to discuss the Yugoslav, Greek and Crete Campaigns of World War II, in addition to the later balkan conflict and liberation of Greece. This includes such subjects as the Initial Italian Invasion of Greece in 1940, the Commonwealth involvement to support Greece, and the German invasions of Yugoslavia and Greece, culminating in the Airborne Assault on Crete. It also covers Greek units that fought on after May 1941 (Regular Army and Resistance Fighters), and the 'liberation' of Greece from Axis control in 1944-45.
This group is not political - it is not here to discuss the politics, or rights and wrongs, of any particular doctrine or political group. It only discusses the historical facts and military forces of Greece, and her allies and enemies.
This group is an English language group, as one of its primary functions is to increase interest in the Greek Military in general and it's contribution to the Allied cause in World War II amongst English speaking people who are currently poorly served by history texts.
