I don't know if this is of any help or not. I worked as a locomotive engineer/fireman for N&W on the Toledo-Brewster part of the former W&LE from 1970-80.

The Wheeling did indeed haul ore from Huron to Massillon. The mill there got ore in hoppers, the same cars used to carry coal. Republic Steel had a car

I know of daily ore trains that ran from Huron to Creston where they were handed over to the Erie Railroad for delivery to the Mahoning Valley. I don't know
