Subject: June Guild Meeting Agenda

The June Guild meeting will be held during the lunch break at A&S Tournement
this Saturday in the Royal Pavilion.

The meeting will be held in conjunction with a Potluck lunch. Please bring
something to share for about eight people. And please bring chairs!!!

Please Note: If you can not make the meeting, but still have something to say,
send me an email by noon on Friday and I will bring it to the meeting to be
read.

Agenda is as follows;

1) Sabrina - Rose pouch update

2) Sorcha - Royal napkin update and request for successor to take over
management of the project.

3) Jocelyn - West An Tir Cloak update: SHOW OFF TIME!!! (and looking for new
volunteer. Project due 2014)

4) 2012 Largess project - Target display at 12th night. Has anyone been
inspired yet? Or have anything to show? Is there anyone looking for a mentor
or help on this project?

5) Future Largess Project Ideas – Let's hear it folks!

6) At the last meeting we discussed doing something for the populous in general
or as a whole. This could be Kingdom and/or Principality type regalia, or
something else that is of service to the populous of our Kingdom. Thoughts?
Ideas? Let's talk!

7) New Broider Program – Isela will present our new program!

8) Service Award recommendations

9) Inter Kingdom Intensive Needlework Symposium (IKINS) - Recap

10) Guild Minister Annual Affirmation Vote – Yes, I know, we just did this last
October, but traditionally this should be in June, so we'll get back to doing
this on time!

11) We have "off shore" people who want to get involved in the Guild - seeking
thoughts and suggestions to help make our guild more accessable to the far away
but close at heart :-D

Greetings all,
I am in the process of thinning my craft room (a task onto itself) and I have
determined that I will not be continuing work with bobbin lace. So my pillows,
roller and bobbins need a new home. I even have thread and an instruction book.
If anyone is interested, please contact me off list.

For those of you who are interested in doing needlepoint or petite point
projects.

While talking to the owner of Thumbelina Needlework shop in Solvang on Saturday
I discovered the reason for the lack of Paternayan yarns. The owner of the
company died last year and the heirs have decided to halt production.

Unfortunately this downturn has hit Solvang fairly hard and she isn't sure how
long she will be able to stay in business, it depends on the Christmas season.
(She is hidden in one of the courtyards off of Coppenhagen street, no through
foot traffic to speak of).

Brenda and her husband own the shop and they do still have a decent selection of
these yarns at the moment. She also carries the blank canvas in several sizes.

If you are interested her name is Brenda Knudsen and you can reach her by E-mail
at info@.... Phone #: (805) 688-4136 The website is
http://www.thumbelina.com/

I told her I would mention her shop to my needleworker friends.

(I want to offer my heartfelt apologies for not being able to get to the

I wasn't able to get the second message with meeting notes through to site. I
am VERY sorry!! Thank you to Jocelyn, Catherine Lorraine and Isela for making
sure that things ran smoothly anyway )

Minutes as follows;

1) Sabrina - Rose pouch Report – Sabrina will continue for one more year and
hopes to give a class on the making of Rose pouches at a future event.
Catherine Lorraine has offered to take over the Rose Pouch Project after
Sabrina. We currently have pouches lined up through Beltane 2015.

2015 - Beltane (March Crown)
Vashti
2015 - Purgatorio (June Crown)
Petronilla Alexander (needs to email Sabrina)

2) Sorcha - Royal napkin project is current and volunteers are scheduled. The
Mists as well are all scheduled into next year. Catherine Lorraine has
volunteered to take of the Royal Napkin Project in June 2013.
3) West An Tir Cloak 2014 – Project has been assigned. Isela and I (Katherine)
will be doing it as a joint project – meant to announce that at the meeting, but
kudo's to Sorcha and Petronilla for Volunteering! You guys rock!
4) 2012 Largess project and display at 12th night. Sweet bags have been turned
into me: 3 from Vashti, 1 from Jocelyn. Catherine Lorraine has finished 1 for
a total of 5 done! Yay. We talked about the project itself and didn't really
cover the display side. Tables cost $5.00 each and since there will be a Laurel
Display tables are expected to go quickly and room may be an issue.
We still need to get this display organized…
- Who can be available for set up and help watch over the table?
                 - How long do we leave the table up?
                - Do we want to include anything else in the display?

5) Project – Replacement Royal Throne Cushions. Again, I meant to announce this
at the meeting, but my second message didn't get through to site: Sabrina and
Ellen of the Western Wind have already begun work on the project. Kudo's to
Felicia and Iuliatta for volunteering!!! The following is a report from Ellen:
Cushion Report from Ellen
• Sabrina gave me the wool carpet patterns, and some of the canvas I need, (need
to pick up more canvas and see if I can match some of the reds).
• Theia has given me the dimensions of the cushions. (14 X 17 X 2 1/2 inches).
• I have copied the pattern of the carpets and am scaling them down (with some
simplifications). I am planning on having a foam core with a muslin
cover/insert and the needlework on a separate cushion cover to facilitate
cleaning when needed.
• There are a few people on my list to help, but I still need to get the
patterns made so they can decide if they want to take some of it on or not.
• I hope to have them finished by Beltane of next year.

6) New Broider Program – No items were brought for show and tell, but people are
working on them.
QUESTION: DO WE WANT TO ADD BROIDER PROGRAM PROJECTS TO THE 12TH NIGHT
DISPLAY AS WORKS IN PROGRESS???
8) Service Award recommendations – people were asked to email Guild Minister
with suggestions.

Non-Agenda items discussed:
1. People were told by CL of the FB Largess Group for those interested in
giving of their time, not only to the West Kingdom.
2. Vashti has some extra embroidery books she'd like to donate to the guild.
It was discussed that she could also post on the Yahoo Groups to sell the books.

No further business, the Guild Meeting Closed.

We missed you at Crown, glad you are safe and sound....

Thank you for posting the minutes, with the additional information.

As to the display at 12th Night, personally I think if people have items
they are working on for the Broider program and wish to display as a
work in progress I think that would be great. Sweet bags for the
display would be great too as they are small and do not take up much room.

If the Guild is going to do a display we should arrange for a table
asap. Personally I would be willing to sponsor (pay for) one table as I
am given to understand the charge is only $5 per table.....

Just FYI His Excellency Juan Santiago Baron of Darkwood is in charge of
the Laurel display and His Royal Highness Ob has already been requesting
items from the Laurels for display, so yes space may be very limited as
to tables.

(I want to offer my heartfelt apologies for not being able to get to the
meeting. Due to the perfect storm of everything going wrong, my daughter and I
were unable to make it all the way to site and had to turn around and go home.
While I did manage to get through briefly to one person about my not making it,
I wasn't able to get the second message with meeting notes through to site. I
am VERY sorry!! Thank you to Jocelyn, Catherine Lorraine and Isela for making
sure that things ran smoothly anyway )

Minutes as follows;

1) Sabrina - Rose pouch Report – Sabrina will continue for one more year and
hopes to give a class on the making of Rose pouches at a future event.

3) West An Tir Cloak 2014 – Project has been assigned. Isela and I (Katherine)
will be doing it as a joint project – meant to announce that at the meeting,
but kudo's to Sorcha and Petronilla for Volunteering!

Again, I meant to announce
this at the meeting, but my second message didn't get through to site: Sabrina
and Ellen of the Western Wind have already begun work on the project. Kudo's to
Felicia and Iuliatta for volunteering!!! The following is a report from Ellen:
Cushion Report from Ellen
β€’ Sabrina gave me the wool carpet patterns, and some of the canvas I need,
(need to pick up more canvas and see if I can match some of the reds).
β€’ Theia has given me the dimensions of the cushions. (14 X 17 X 2 1/2
inches).
β€’ I have copied the pattern of the carpets and am scaling them down (with some
simplifications). I am planning on having a foam core with a muslin
cover/insert and the needlework on a separate cushion cover to facilitate
cleaning when needed.
β€’ There are a few people on my list to help, but I still need to get the
patterns made so they can decide if they want to take some of it on or not.
β€’ I hope to have them finished by Beltane of next year.

6) New Broider Program – No items were brought for show and tell, but people
