WHCspanish is a list for encouraging and developing haiku and haiku-related genres in Spanish from Spain to South America. It is the first of WHC's important attempt at helping non-English and non-Japanese haiku to develop. One estimate says that haiku is now written in over seventy languages and it is more than obvious that we should look into developing haiku in these different languages. It is hoped that WHCspanish will not only inspire many Spanish-speaking poets into writing haiku in Spanish but also speakers of other languages in the world to get together and enhance the development of haiku in their respective mother tongue.
