WHCbeginners list is one of the four mailing lists of WHC, which form the main body of our world-wide haiku network on the Intenet. The other three are WHCworkshop (general haiku list), WHChaikuforum (for "seasoned" haijin) and WHCvanguard (progressive and free haiku). WHCbeginners list is designed for helping beginners, newcomers or anyone who wish to learn the basics of haiku writing and WHC protocol & netiquette. WHCbeginners' mentors give constructive c & c to haiku posted by beginners as well as guidance on the protocol and netiquette. They are here to "shepherd" members to a point where they will be able to start finding their own way. They also encourage discussion on key issues of haiku. This is a popular list and membership criteria could be stringent. Once admitted, all members must actively participate in the list through discussion, C&C and its various activities which the mentors set. When accepted for membership to WHCbeginners, members remain through the mentored session (about 2 1/2 -3 months long). When the session is completed, alumni-members are transferred to WHCworkshop. New members of WHCbeginners are accepted and added to the list only as a completed session ends, and a new session (with new mentees) begins.
