Description

The West Seattle Amateur Radio Club is your best-bet for social contact or technical assistance from the local hams in West Seattle. The club has a rich history stretching back to the 1920's. We offer weekly radio nets on the club repeater - W7AW and hold monthly breakfasts at The Heartland Restaurant, 4210 Southwest Admiral Way, in West Seattle. Join us the Third Sunday each Month at 9:30am. The club offers licensing classes to become a ham radio operator. Technician licensing classes and exams are available for anyone interested in joining our community. If you live or operate in the West Seattle area, or can get to West Seattle from where you live or operate, please join us. Membership is open to all. The West Seattle Amateur Radio Club supports local community preparedness. Seattle's citizens should be preparing for a range of events from winter storms to serious earthquakes. Many of our members practice with our local Hubs to relay information to and from the City of Seattle Emergency Operations Center with Seattle's Auxillary Communications Service. Join us in helping West Seattle create a disaster resistant community. While your grandfather might have been a member of the West Seattle ARC, modern ham radio is changing rapidly. We now build our own software defined radios and utilize digital communications modes which allow worldwide communication using modest antennas with only 1 watt of power, or less. Other members restore historic radios, contact foreign hams stations, work ham-radio satellites or work interesting modes of propagation and terrestrial weak signals.

The W7AW Repeater Located in the High Point Neighborhood operates on an Output of 441.8 MHz with a shift of +5 MHz and requires a Tone of 141.3 Hz. Check into our information and announcement net Monday evenings at 6:30 PM.
