Canadian Women for Women in Afghanistan (CW4WAFghan) is a volunteer solidarity network, founded in 1996. Members from over ten chapters and affiliated groups are committed to raising awareness to the plight of women and their families in Afghanistan. During two decades of war, Afghan women have endured expreme oppression, through the denial of their basic human rights. As we enter a new era of hope in Afghanistan, much support is needed to help Afghan women mend and redefine their shattered lives. Securing basic human rights for Afghan women will require much long-term support both from within their own country and from the international community.
The overall goals of W4WAfghan are 1) to support the empowerment efforts of Afghan women in the areas of health, education and skills-training, and 2) to raise awareness in Canada of the need to protect human rights for Afghan women. We welcome donations for our project partners working with Afghan women. See our web site www.w4wafghan.ca.
This CW4WAfghan List is for Information Purposes Only in support of these goals, and not intended for general discussion purposes. We request members contact a chapter or affiliated group in your area for discussions concerning the plight of women in Afghanistan (see CONTACT US at website at http://www.w4wafghan.ca). Please value the nature and intent of this communication, in its diversity and solidarity, through mature and thoughtful dialogue and exchange. Membership is open to all those supporting the human rights of Afghan women.
