Here's a reminder note for the Art in the Garden design meeting on Monday, July
11, from 7:00 - 8:30 PM at 9528 Dayton Ave.
Check out the Community Garden Fence conceptual sketch on the Yahoogroup site
files folder. We've come up with some fun ideas linking the garden to the
Interuban trolley history and bike path present. Come to the meeting, share your
thoughts and ideas, and help to actually fabricate the metal art pieces.
On Monday, we will work in Ian's garage workshop off the alley that runs
north-south between 95th and 97th and between Evanston and Dayton Avenues. Ian's
house is located about a third of the way up from 95th, on the west (Dayton Ave)
side and is the only backyard with two basketball hoops and a soccer goal. If
you drive, you can park off the alley.

will be integrated into the community garden that is being built in Greenwood

professional artist to make your vision a reality and learn the craft of metal
working.

help add artistic elements to the Greenwood Park Community Garden. The Fremont
Avenue side of the garden will include a low concrete wall (to support raised
garden beds) with a metal fence on top. We will attach metallic art pieces onto
the fence and construct an archway entrance into the garden. Through two design
meetings we have developed the attached conceptual drawing of the fence and
entryway (see attachments). The art pieces draw on the Interurban as a creative
theme linking the historical trolley line with the current bike route. This
theme represents the Greenwood neighborhood and ties into other artistic and
interpretive elements in the existing park.
