Vintage_CB is meant to be a discussion group for sharing information, and aimed at folks who enjoy gathering, restoring, trading and preserving the memories of the "CB Boom" of the mid to late 1970's.
It is intended to allow members to help other members in all aspects of collecting and restoring older radios, and is not geared toward either group as it's main focus. It was formed with the thought in mind that everyone interested in having a rig like the one "Dad once had" or "their first rig" is not always interested in knowing what every part does, while also allowing for the discussion of the internal workings, part locating and repair for those with technical leanings. Hopefully, a common ground between the two ends of the spectrum of collecting will be cultivated to aid the casual collector in easy repair and diagnosis of problems, while sharing resources for parts, manuals, identification and dating information and to provide a forum for trading and general discussion.
This will be a moderated group, only to the point that messages and replies will be monitored. It is not meant to be another e-sandbox. Lively discussion is encouraged, ideas with open-ended dangers and pitfalls should be acknowledged as such and any short-sighted information presented should be met with civil comment or opinion of a possible better way of achieving the desired goals. We all learn, from cradle to grave, and I personally believe that the day that I stop making mistakes is the day that I stop learning. With that said, let us all benefit from the experiences that others have already had and obstacles that have already been overcome.
This general discription is a concept only, and will evolve (or die) as the group takes off and progresses; a work in progress.
