Greetings my fellow villagers.

OK, I know it's short notice, but I need to ask this of you all. Her Excellency Moraig is coming THIS SATURDAY for a heraldry session as well as a culinary challenge in her honor.

the request is..we might need a place to meet at! and I need to know soon so I can tell her excellency where to go!

Right now Colin is looking into a possibility, but I need to know of a backup locale for a gathering. The only requirements are that it be a place big enough to hold us all, and it HAS to have internet access. That rules out my place, otherwise I'd gladly host it there as a backup spot should Colin's efforts not branch out.

so yeah, PLEASE call me (don't even bother with the delay of e-mail) and let's set this up.

Thanks for opening up your homes my fellow villagers, see you Saturday for an assuredly great feast!

Village of Ketelblastr
Minutes of the Thing
Saturday May 29th 2010 4:37pm-5:32
Marcial and Kathrynfs Home@

In Attendance

Kathryn inghean Griffin- Chronicler, Marcial de Salas- Seneschal, Bullwhyf Ironbelly, Astrid, Colin MacWilliams, Jeanette Jewell, Tiffany Notter

New Designation

We are officially a gVillageh. Huzzah!

Ironwood Township Firehall

No news as of yet.

Website

Lord Frost has purchased the website building software. Marcial will try to get the receipt ASAP. Marcial told the group that now that we have the software, at some point in the near future those interested in helping with the website should plan a meeting.

Scattered Stones

Kathryn and Astrid will be getting together next week to put the finishing touches on the newsletter. Kathryn informed the group that this edition will be the first in the new grayscale format.

Name and Device Submission

At Beltaine, Marcial was told by Darkstonefs Herald that our name with the backstory we provided will likely not pass. Marcial and Dyonisia are going to get together soon to work on it to hopefully come up with enough supporting research so that it will pass. Lord Blood also has ideas for our device should it not pass the way it is designed right now. If anyone in the group would like to help with the research, contact Marcial.

Heraldry Day

On June 5th, her Excellency Moraig will be joining us for a Heraldry session. Marcial reminded everyone to bring their research and devices/names to work on. The more information you bring the better!

Culinary Challenge

A reminder that as well as her Excellency Moraigfs visit, we will also be holding our culinary challenge gModern Made Medievalh that day. Since it is being held in her honor, please try to do your best and ggo all outh.

New Thing/Gathering Schedule

Marcial asked those present how they are liking the new schedule, and thus far it seems to be going well.

Quarterly Reports

Both Marcial and Kathryn have quarterly reports due on June 1st. Marcialfs is a glongh report, Kathrynfs is a regular quarterly. Both have already completed the reports and received confirmation that they were received.

Changes in Wisconsin

Marcial informed the group about changes being made in Wisconsin, with the SCA having to form a subsidiary known as gSCA of Wisconsinh and how it will affect the group.

Wilder Fine Arts

Katherine Wilder-Berg is holding an art fair on June 26th and Ketelblastr is being given the opportunity to hold an A&S demonstration there. The idea went over well with the people that were present at the meeting, but it will be discussed further when more of the group is present.

Device Submission Vote

The vote was postponed to a later date when more of the populace will be present.

Throatless Shear

Marcial informed the group that he purchased a throatless shear, so the group now has metal cutting capabilities. Hefs stoked.

End time 5:32

Misc:

The Thing was preceded by a potluck meal and followed by an armoring session.

Greetings unto Ketelblastr:

Well, the weekend with Moraig certainly opened our eyes and minds to many a new
thing, one of the most important being our group name and why it may not pass
the college of Heralds. AS such, I have been doing a little research and I have
come up with a few ideas.

1: Hnitbjörg = this is the name I have found for the mountain where the mead was
held.

2:Jötenheim = this is the name for the town by the mountain where the mead was
held, where the giant whom took it from the dwarves lived.

If you wish to read the story I have read, here is the link.

Guest- Chris Redman

Wilder Fine Arts Show

On June 26th there is going to be an art show with vendors held at Wilder Fine Arts in Ironwood. For a $20 fee we can hold an A&S demo. The space fee will be paid through private donations rather than group funds. It will run from 9-4, so we would be there from 8-5 for set up and breakdown. Members were advised to bring a picnic lunch as it is unknown if there will be food vendors there.

Woodland Romp

Many members are interested in going, but will depend on individual finances. Marcial is to inquire with Lord Eistein about family cap as there were issues with it at Beltaine and some members ended up overpaying.

Scattered Stones

The newsletter is compiled and ready for printing and mailing this coming week. As a side note, Marcial informed us he submitted to Northwatch and for us to be on the lookout for the filk he submitted.

Website Software

It has been purchased, Marcial has it in his possession as well as the sales receipt. Marcial once again informed the group that if anyone is interested in helping with designing the website to please contact him and a brainstorming meeting will be held.

New Name

Last week during our Heraldry session with her Excellency Moraig, we were told that our name Ketelblastr will not pass through the College of Heralds, so we are on the hunt for a new name! Marcial has 2 ideas posted on the yahoo group. He wants everyone in the group to do individual research and see if they can come up with some name ideas for our next Thing.

New Devices

Most of the individual devices have been fixed, as per suggestions by Moraig. Marcial will post them up on the group.

Bessemer 4th of July Parade

Kathryn asked the group if they would be interested in marching and/or putting a float in this yearfs parade. Members present liked the idea. Marcial is going to double check to see if we would need Darkstonerfs present since it technically will be a gdemoh. Kathryn is in charge of this project and will be contacting the Bessemer Chamber of Commerce to find out more details about the parade and whether or not there is a fee involved. Marcial and Kathryn have offered up their Aztek for use in the parade, and Kathryn has a lead on a small trailer. Members are asked to please start thinking of ideas for decorations, floats, banners etc.

Darkstone

Marcial is going up on Sunday and asked if anyone would like to go along for practice. @

Misc:

The Thing was followed by a potluck grill out, armoring and A&S sessions.

Kathryn did research on the proposed names Marcial had posted and found that neither of them would work due to various different conflicts.

Jotunheim (I dunno how to do umlauts, but it should be a u after the t rather than an e) is actually the name of the whole realms of the Jotnar, or giants, not just a town. This kind of input is what you get for letting Heathens hang out with you on occasion!

FWIW, I kinda like Hnitbjorg.

Kvasir's Blood, btw, is a common kenning for the mead itself, and sounds kinda cool. Kvasir was a being created from the mingled spittle of the two tribes of gods to seal the truce after their war in early days! He was killed by dwarves, who turned his blood into the meand of inspiration (Odhroehrir)!

In Attendance

Kathryn inghean Griffin- Chronicler, Marcial de Salas- Seneschal, Vara Galla Bevon, Colin MacWilliams, Jeanette Jewell, Badrick Godwin, Lady Finna Ittaniemi, Guyle Burgess

Wilder Fine Arts Show

Jeanette and Colin will be providing the group with a canopy that will pretty much cover our 10x10 space. Marcial is going to be bringing his armor for display and is bringing the dishing stumps, anvil and other tools for making gorgets on site. Lady Finna will be bringing her card loom, lucet and chain weaving. Vara will be demonstrating chain weaving. Jeanette is going to do armoring working on either a c-belt or bracers. Kathryn will be doing embroidery and making a pouch. It is going to be a true demo, so everyone is to wear their garb. Kathryn will be providing her laptop for playing the videos she has created about the group as well as music.

Bessemer 4th Parade

Kathryn downloaded the float form and regulations. She read off the regulations to the group. A long discussion was held on what type of float we should make and our final decision was to create a small scale Viking ship out of a canoe, and have group members march in garb and armor. Lady Finna contacted a family member to procure a boat trailer for the float. Kathryn filled out the form and was to drop it off at the Parade Chairman¡¯s home by Friday. Our first float building session will be this Sunday, June 27th at Lady Finna¡¯s home. All those interested in helping us build the float are welcome to come by and lend a hand!

New Name

Kathryn and Marcial have both done some research into a new name for the group. The ideas were read off and discussed, and a quick unofficial vote was held and Sn©ªland was the favorite of members present. More research will be done to make sure that the name is available and is ¡°College of Heralds friendly¡± before any formal name changing announcement is made.

Greetings unto the populace of...ummm...us!

It is my pleasure to announce that I have gotten a program and a tutoring
session and now have the capability and know-how to turn Scattered Stones into
an online publication!

As discussed at the float building tonight the June edition of SS has been
postponed due to printer and lack of name issues. The edition is done however
(and has been for weeks),so I shall leave it up to the group if you would like
me to post it up in it's new PDF format.

Please leave me some feedback!

Greetings my fellow Villagers,
It seems our Dear friends at Ironwood TWP forgot
to mention a couple things to me about their offer to let us use the gym
basement......Apparently as I just found out today if ANYONE at ANYTIME steps
forward and wants to RENT the basement THEY GET THE BASEMENT even if WE booked
it well in advance because of course GREED ALWAYS TRUMPS GENEROUSITY WHEN IT
COMES TO POLITICS. Why give us the space for the day when the Township can make
a buck. So that being said our thing on July 10th will be held at our house NOT
the gym. But for now the thing on the July 24th will be held at the TWP gym
basement. I am not writing us onto the gym basement schedule any farther out
than that because it is to iffy with the way they are doing this. -Colin

Finna,

Yes indeedy it will be all official like. Many groups choose to do it
electronicly to keep costs down. I have been in contact with Shava to make sure
the transition goes smoothly and that I am not missing any forms or what-have
you.

And saving a tree is definitly a good side-benefit of going electronic. :)

Minutes of the Thing

Saturday, July 10th, 2010 5:20pm-7:00pm

Jonet and Colinfs Home

In Attendance
Kathryn inghean Griffin-Chronicler, Audun Eyvindr, Marcial de Salas-Seneschal, Jonet, Badrick Godwin, Lady Finna Ittaniemi-Exchequer, Vara Galla Bevon, Colin MacWilliams, Amalea Kravetz, Jacob Kravetz@

Parade Wrap Up

Parade- it went well and it looked good. Kathryn informed group of float winners (which we did not place). We plan to come back "bigger and better" next year. Pictures of us are posted on ironwood info.com and superior chronicle.com All feedback has been positive thus far. We did our best to inform people along the parade route that we are not MARS as the question was raised numerous times. 116 pamphlets were given out.

Pics Submission

Marcial asked the group if we should submit a photo of the Viking Ship to the Ironwood Daily Globe- the group said "yes!" so after the meeting Jonet and Kathryn will take care of it.

Scattered Stones

The change to PDF has taken place so it will be an online publication from now on. Kathryn requested everyone email the chronicler email address so she can construct a mailing list. She is still waiting on Shava to get back to her to see if there are any forms or anything that needs to be done for the change to be legit in the eyes of SCA. All current and back issues of Scattered Stones will also be made available on the Yahoo group.

New Name and Device

Marcial has not done any more research on the new proposed names. Kathryn has done a little, by checking group listings on the SCA site and no one has the names we are interested in. Marcial requested that Kathryn contact His Excellency Grimmund to help with the name. Marical will then send it off to Her Excellency Moirag for her input.

Marcial shared new device ideas with the members present. Primary votes for the new name revealed that Hvintaholt and Svellholt are the front runners. And the device with the azure border was chosen as our new device.

SCA-WI
Things are moving along good, the change is almost done.

SCA-MI

Michigan is next as far as creating an SCA subsidiary, but chances are our group wonft be affected by it as we probably wonft be a full status group before the change occurs. Lady Finna heard that is could be done as soon as October.

Fundraiser

Ideas were thrown around for our next fundraiser, and as soon as the SCA-WI changes is complete we will hold one.

Pumpkin Fest

Marcial has been in contact with Lord Tomas, and it seems the SCA will be there for ambience/a demo, should we like. We can also look into doing a craft/bake sale. We would like to be close to the band if at all possible, instead of up by the Firehall. All bakery would be pumpkin based.

Private Mini-Event

Kathryn suggested that we pick a weekend and the entire group go camping and enjoy a weekend together with swimming, and potluck bonfire. The group liked the idea and the Little Girls Point is looking like the locale. It is looking like our next culinary challege will be held during the campout.

Viking Tent

Lady Finnafs sisterfs fiance is giving her the wooden framework for a 12x16 Viking tent. She described the poles as being ornately carved and painted.

Material

Marcial and Jonet have a lead on material through Jacquarts Fabric Products.

Culinary Challenge

The topic of the next culinary challege was discussed. Marcial suggested "Therefs A Fungus Amongus", where most dishes would contain mushrooms. Lady Finna suggested it take place at the camping trip, where most entrees would be cooked over an open fire.

Next Weeks Meeting

Scheduled for next weeks gathering is fighting (pending marshals), and general A&S, including a potluck dinner. Marcial and Kathryn have desserts, Lady Finna has veggies, Jonet and Colin have a meat dish and bread, and Vara has beverages and appetizers.

Greetings my Fellow Villagers,
I just picked up the keys from the Ironwood twp
ofice for the Gymnasium basement for our thing this coming Saturday. For those
who are not familiar with the building layout if you go in thru the glass door
by the red fire hall door you will be in the hallway by the gym. If you then
turn right you will see a gate open to a stairwell on your right hand side just
a couple yards down the hall. Come down those stairs and you will find us. We

Greetings unto the Populace of Ketelblastr and Beyond, this is your weekly Thing and Gathering reminder.

The Village of Ketelblastr will be gathering in the basement of the Gym of the ITFD (say that ten times fast) on Saturday, July 24th, beginning at 4:30, though you can come earlier if you like.

Please bring your A&S projects and heavy Fighters, be prepared to bring your gear as we *might* have a marshal coming down (I just wrote Lord Lucius 2 minutes ago), Ditto you Rapier fighters (I will write Lord Conrad right now).

We will also share a potluck meal, so bring a dish!

See you all there:
MdS

Dear Group,
I am sorry to say that the boys and I will probably not make the meeting--we'll see.  Tomorrow ended up being one of those CRAZY days that you don't know which way to turn for fear of treading on toes. So enjoy the comradery and I will miss you all.  Wanted to find out about the canvas for the tent, it is up in my backyard with a plastic tarp over it right now.
May Finnish winds fill your sails'

Greetings My Lady:

First off, welcome to our group! For those of my fellow villagers whom do not
know whom our new member is, she is the kind Lady whom Kathryn and I were
fortunate enough to meet at Woodland Romp whom was interested in joining our
quaint village. Now that you are a member, you can check out our site in its
entirety. Please go ahead and make a database entry for yourself in the "Roll
call" and "allergies" databases, it really helps with MoAS reports and meals :)

We have plenty of links that might be of use to you, and on top of that, we have
pics galore! So once again, welcome to the group, we look forward to meeting
with you whenever you can make the trip down.

I'll be there, and I have a warrant for both armored and rapier, so I can run dual practices if desired.

Greetings unto the Village of Hvitskogar, and beyond.

Well, I just wanted to update you all on a couple of things.

1-that petition I sent around with Jeanette...forget it. I need to have you all
sign a new one because I mispelled the name. Sorry. :/ No news yet from Moraig
about the research or the new device.

2-I have notified all Kingdom officials about our new name.

3-As a result of this notification, our contact info has been changed on
Northshield.org, as well as in the Northwatch.

4- The seneschal office now has a new e-mail address. Please note this change
for your own records.
hvitskogarsen@...
I ask that all the other officers please create an officer e-mail address. Go
ahead and use whatever service you like, but I recommend Gmail, from personal
experience.

5-Have a look at the pics section, I have uploaded our new device, submittable
and stylized.

Be well, I shall see you this Saturday, keep an eye out for the weekly thing and
gathering notice.
